I just finished wiring my excalibur al-2000-edp on my 87 mustang lx coupe, it's my first install and everything went well except when armed and I open a door, the alarm doesn't go off. Could it be the door trigger switch? I split into the BLACK/ Light Blue wire on the driver side kicker panel, is this correct?

Did you use the positive door trigger wire on your alarm? Does your interior light come on when you open the door?

did you test it with a meter to make sure it works the way it should? if the wire doesn't work you might need to change a fuse or go to a light that turns on when you open the door.

Yes, I used the positive door trigger and the car doesn't have any interior light, the previous owner removed them, weird.

I had checked the passenger side door trigger wire before I started and it supplied 12v even if I pushed in the door trigger switch.

you may have the wrong wire if you get 12v all the time. if it is positive trigger the 12v should go away when you close the door.

First thing to do is make sure the headlight switch isn't turned all the way until it clicks. The switch spins to adjust the dash lights but if you turn it too far it lights the interior light and will make it think the door is open. It does this by supplying voltage to the BLACK/ blue wire. If this isn't it, you need remove both pin switches and test them... ------------- Mike M2
