Hey! I'm new to these forums, but not exactly new to 12 volt electronics. that being said, I'm trying to install the Python 872 security/remote start/keyless entry system by DEI into my 1996 Toyota Camry LE 4cyl. This car has NO factory alarm system. Everything works great, expect the remote start.
I've searched around these forums and found some similar DEI systems installed into the 96 Camry, so I went ahead and connected the wires as follows for the remote start. I listed these as "Python 872 wire TO Camry wire".
> red to WHITE/ red (+)12 volt constant
> purple to BLACK/ white(+) starter side starter wire
> green to BLACK/ white(+) starter key side starter wire
> pink/white to BLACK/ orange
> pink to BLACK / YELLOW(+)
> orange to pink/blue(+)
All the car wants to do right now when I tell it to remote start is turn on the dashboard lights and a few other lights on the instrument gauge..ie- seat belt, airbag, check engine, etc. The "you left your keys in the ignition/left your headlights on" buzzer also sounds for a few moments.
Those are all the 10 gauge wires in the Camry that are used to start the car for my knowledge. I also have an excel file of which wires give 12v in every key position that I made. There are still some unused wires that come from the H3 connector on the Phython 872. I'm not sure where they should go, or if they even need to go anywhere.
Any ideas? I can give more info is needed. Thanks ahead of time!

Did you power all 3 30amp inputs to the unit? From your post I am thinking you might not have. The red, RED / white, and RED / black all need to be powered by a heavy +12V constant supply. The RED / black is the input wire that provides power to the relay that energizes the starter output circuit.

that's probably the problem! only solid red is hooked up. i'll try it tomorrow. Now- I have 2 12V constants on the car...the white and the RED / white. how should I distribute the 3 red 10 gauges from the python to the 2 10 gauges on the car's wiring harness? ------------- LynchburgCSI
