Sorry mods, I should have added this to the other topic.

I have a 689M and a Valet 561R. Everything sets up fine, LED goes out after the door is closed and the system shuts the truck down.

When I initiate a remote start the 561 waits for the "wait to start" light to go out, and cranks the truck. Truck quickly fires up and then dies. The 561 diagnosis are a #7, neutral safety issue.

I'm trying to figure out what would be wrong that would let the unit setup properly, yet kill it instantly after a remote start.

Thanks!

Maybe a flaky switch in the shifter? Vibration could be causing it to be intermittent.

Where and how did you do your tach?

Same question for the clutch.....

And again, for the door pins!

Tach is tied to the 561R tach wire and the vehicle tach wire.
Clutch is bypassed at the clutch switch (I like to be able to start the truck withing getting in sometimes.) 589 clutch bypass is not connected.
Door pins are (-) and are tied directly to the pins.

If I ground the neutral safety switch wire I the truck will remote start, so it's not an issue with the 561 that I can tell.

Is the BLACK/ white on the 689m and the BLACK/ white on the 561R connected together? If yes, test to see if you are getting a constant ground signal when remote starting. It is shutting down because it is not seeing a constant ground or a good ground. Also make sure the ground wire for the 689m is solid.

It wouldn't fire up if the neutral safety switch wasn't correctly wired. It does sound like either tach or a by-pass problem if there was one that year.
