I have a 2006 350Z where I have installed a Compustar alarm/remote start (the 2W900FM-AS, I believe).  Everything is functional and working without any issues.  I connected the Parking Light output of the alarm to the correct wire to flash the parking lights with the alarm and to turn them on during the remote start.  But I have noticed since then that the way the factory key fob functions is that when you hit lock or unlock it doesn't flash the same lights....it flashes the hazards (which are different lights...see uploaded image for clarification).  I realize I could change the wire that I connected to the parking lights circuit over to the hazard lights circuit, but that when the car has been remote started, the hazards would flash (as opposed to the parking lights simply being on).  I guess this wouldn't be a bad thing though...

What I what to know is whether anyone has an idea on how I could get the hazards to flash during the lock/unlock, but have the parking lights turn on during remote start.  Is there is a simple way to direct the 12+ pulses to the hazard lights and direct the 12+ constant to the parking lights.  My first thought is to use a relay that would direct the 12+ parking signal to the Hazard circuit if the car is not in remote start (using the Status output from the alarm to indicate if it is remote start mode) and direct the 12+ parking signal to the Parking Light while it is in remote start.

Is there a better way?  Would this work?

It's not the hazard lights, persay, it's the turn signals that flash.

Take your parking light output and diode isolate it to your left and right turn signals.  It will flash the turn signals on arm/disarm and then keep the turn signals on constantly once remote started.

If you really want to switch between parking lights and turn signals you should be able to install a relay and trigger if off the (-) status output wire.  Have the relay ouputs switch between the parking lights (87) and the turn signals (87A).  You'll still need to diode isolate the turn signals at the BCM.

just to clarify what kevin said,

wire your relay like this

pins 30 and 86 to ignition

pin 85 to status output of your remote start

pin 87a to  hazards dioded with the band facing away from alarm

pin 87 to parking lights,

Okay.  That's pretty much what I had in mind (except using the turn signals).  I'll give it a shot.  Thx.

If it were my car, I'd want the parking lights on during remote start, but I'd still want the turn signals/hazards to flash with lock and unlock.....I think that would be the ideal way.

I'd leave the parking light wire from your Compustar just the way it is.

Then, take the Compustar's "factory alarm disarm" and "factory alarm rearm" outputs, and use those to trigger the turn signals or hazards.

DEI lists the hazard wire as GREEN/ red, negative trigger, in pin 29 at the BCM, or at the back of the hazard switch.

The disarm and rearm outputs from the Compustar should each make a one-second pulse........disarm will pulse every time you unlock (and before remote start too), and rearm will pulse every time you lock.

So, you'll end up with a hazard flash every time you lock and unlock.

Chris:  how can I do what you have listed here, but stop the parking lights from flashing along with the hazards?

As I understand what you are saying, leaving the parking light the way it is and adding the disarm/rearm outputs to the hazard lights would do this:

Unlock:  parking lights flash & hazard lights flash
Lock:  parking lights flash & hazard lights flash
Remote Start ON:  parking lights & hazard lights flash, then parking lights stay on
Remote Start OFF: parking lights turn off, hazard lights flash

So how can I stop the parking lights from flashing?  Can i wire in something along the Parking Light Output that will make the lights not flash, but will come on with a longer duration of power?  (I am thinking that I could wire in something that takes ~1 second to charge/complete the circuit, but stays on as long as the power stays on?  so I would have ~1 sec delay on the lights coming on, but they wouldn't flash with the pulses)

Does this make sense?  Is it possible?  Maybe I should just let all of the lights flash (I'll probably wire it up that way this weekend and see if it looks okay).
