I am trying to find the trouble witha 94 Firebird. When you turn the key forward the SECURITY light flashes on and off and the car wont start. I tried bypassing the key resistor and with the aftermarket resistor the light turns solid, still wont strt. The strange thing is when I remove the resisstor and go back to the original wiring the security light turns off, but the car wont start still. When i remove the key and try again the security light begins to blink again. The car has manual door locks so it cant be deactivated through the lock system. Any ideas will help.

Sounds like you have an ECM issue. The VATS code gets sent to the module for it to "compute" that information. The problem you are describing is not uncommon on vehicles with VATS. Are you sure you used a resistor +/- 5-10%?

I found a value of 395 on key. Need to check if i have the right resistor value. i was also wondering if anyone knows about a full bypass to the fuel enable wire and start enable controls on the TDM (or too much trouble getting into)?

From what i have seen most gm's have a security module that talks to the pcm via data.

So unless you can get a pcm from a non vats vehicle i would say its very hard to get around it.

You could always put in a carburator and points ignition.
