hello, I got kind of a strange problem here, I have a 2000 ford ranger that at random times the door open light will come on and you hear the chime for it, even when the doors are closed, It happens when I am driving and nothing I do seems to turn it off (opening and closing the doors). It has an alarm on it and it goes off randomly I believe because the alarm thinks the door has been openend when it hasn't, my question is what would cause this? I don't see any switches for the doors so I am assuming that they are in the latch? anyone ever heard of this. it is weird. thanks for any help

You are right about the door switches being in the latches.  Take some WD-40 and spray the drivers door latch really good, probably have picked up some moisture in it. This is a very common problem with the rangers.

scuba has hit the nail on the head........always use WD40 nothing else like grease. WD40 will take care of any miosture that might be in there and also lube it.
