lol that's a first, but probably an innovative idea for safety reasons. Car manufacturers should probably look a little more in depth into this post.

They actually are, as we speak. Heard something a couple of weeks ago about this. Some guy built some kind of prototype and was offered a ton of money to sell his invention. I'll see if I can find some info.

Prototype? I could build it in a couple minutes. Just need to wire a relay as follows:
86 - ignition
85 - (-) trigger from seat belt sensor.
Cut starter wire in half...
87 - one side of starter wire
30 - other side of starter wire

dvaldez, to find the wire go to the seat belt anchor (under the drivers seat). You should find probably 2 wires going to it. One will probably be constant ground, the other will only show ground when the seat belt is inserted.

So could I..but that wasn't my point...I was talking about automobile makers incorporating this into every automobile. I doubt they will just wire in a relay and call it good. My reaction was the same as yours though Jworm....I couldn't believe someone didn't already have a patent on this.

Didn't Volkswagen have something like this a few years back?

The wire color should be BROWN / Light Blue and it goes ground when buckled

Didn't something similar come up a few weeks ago and isn't this wiring DATA on some vehicles, having said that it's a "why didn't I think of that idea?"

I think it was Volvo, how many Volvos have I driven over the last 20 years with the seat belts left buckled up?  Incidentally does any one work on them any more, have'nt done anything except  the odd Sat Nav and phone kit on them in the last 10 years.

I THINK in those comments you all mean 87a not 87

yeah i think what jworm has is to allow the car to start with the seatbelt buckeled.

No. I meant 30 and 87, not 30 and 87a.

86 has ignition, another poster confirmed the seat belt wire shows ground when connected. Thus 30 and 87 would be connected when the ignition is on and the seat belt is connected.

You would cut the key side (green I believe). If you cut the starter side, the customer would have to leave the seat belt connected to have the remote start work.

its funny that u guys talk about this topic but  on my job we have forklifts on the back of the delivery trucks called a moffet, and it took me a while to figure out that the darn thing wont move if u dont plug the seatbelt in.lol  a safety feature i guess

im getting confused by the word "kill switch" kill usually means turn off or shut down so im not sure what he is trying to do. if its starting the car. then it is 87 and 30. because when the seat belt clicks the relay will allow 87 and 30 to start the car.
