I have just installed a remote start in my 2004 Grand Am GT.

Everything seems to work fine as long as I have the Key turned to the ACC position. Starts fine, brake switch shuts it down, doors lock and unlock (except the second push doesn't open all the doors).

If the key is in the off position it tries and fails to start (light show only, no starter action). If the key is in the run position nothing seems to happen.

I don't have the second Ign. wire hooked up although the RS module has a 30amp 5th relay output that can be jumpered as a second Ign. or ACC output. I'm guessing that I need to run this output to the Dark Green second Ign. wire at the car's wire harness?

What has me confused is that it works when the key is in ACC position but not in the "Run" position.

Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

No mention of what bypass you have installed?

And YES... get the 2nd ign connected.

Thanks KTM, I have a Solex GMDLBP bypass hooked up. It seemed to take the programing and the vehicle platform is set to Type 2. The LEDs confirmed the settings.

OK, I've hooked up the 2nd Ign. wire. Everything works good first thing in the morning but after I drive it for awhile it won't start. Sometimes it will start for a few seconds and die, other times it won't activate the starter circuit at all.

The first thing I thought of was a bad connection but it will start every time after the motor is completely cooled down. I hoping to open the dash only one more time before winter and I am looking for possible areas to address. Thanks guys

BTW, I have no wiring in the engine compartment, the hook pin switch has been replaced with a toggle switch, mounted under the dash for now. I'll rewire in the spring.

Found the problem if anyone is interested. Rookie mistake, Duh.

Apparently when I programmed the tach I didn't let it warm up quite enough so the idle hadn't settled completely down. I have reprogrammed it with all the accessories, high beams, heater, rear window defog, etc. on.

So far, The unit seems to work as it should.
