viper 5901 pair mode, remote problems

Hey guys,

I recently upgraded from my 5900 to the 5901 to benefit from the smartstart. The unit is new from an online store, not refurbished to my knowledge. I just finished the installation of the alarm and am unable to place the alarm in pairing mode. I checked all 4 fuses for the power wires as well as tested with a multimeter to ensure power is flowing. I even tried another ground to ensure this wasn't the issue. When I remove the ground and leave it floating, the siren goes off at a very low tone, which tells me that the viper brain is getting power. I tried swapping the LED connector from the antenna with the valet button connector thinking maybe Viper mixed them up. (I knew that wouldn't work, but gave it a shot anyhow.)

My other issue is the included LCD remote will not power on nor take a charge. I didn't notice a battery blocking tab to remove either. When I plug the remote into the charger, nothing happens. I tried a series of button pressing to ensure it wasn't locked or off. I am unsure as to what these problems are. I began to think that this entire unit may be defective, but I wanted to try some more basic troubleshooting prior to contacting the company.

Here is some wiring info that may or may not be relevant to this problem.

I did not use the following wires:
-WHITE/ brown light flash isolation wire on primary harness.
-violet + door trigger on primary harness ( I used the green - trigger)
-blue - trunk pin instant trigger on primary harness
-all of the wires on the auxiliary harness other than horn honk.
-Pink ignition wire on heavy gauge connector
-orange accessory on heavy gauge
-green start input on heavy gauge
-pink/white ignition 2 on heavy gauge
-pink/black flex relay on heavy gauge
-all of the wires on the remote start auxiliary output harness

Any input would be very helpful.

Solved the issue with the main unit.

I evidently must have used the Pink ignition wire on the heavy duty harness on my 5900, even though I could have sworn I didn't. The second I tapped the ignition wire, the alarm was responsive. Pair mode and all other programming commands as well as remote start worked like a charm. I will be posting a review of the new smart start system for anyone that is interested.
