A couple of bonus notes...

Use the Parking Light (-) wire, it is Gray at the light switch in the steering column.  If you get on the wrong Red (+) wire at 42 pin connector at the top of the fuse box it will cost big money.  There are two Red wires in that connector and they test the same....

Your car has a manual transmission.  Make sure your R/S is safe for manual transmissions and set up accordingly.  You will need to bypass the clutch interlock switch.  Get a R/S that has a Start (-) output ( or create a Start (-) signal with a relay ) and connect it to the Orange wire at the Yellow plug on the clutch switch.

spend the extra buck and purchase an idatalink, fortin, or expresskits CANBUS module. It will save you SO much time.

make everything easy on yourself.

Thanks everyone for all the useful information. I am going to use bypasskit Pkall for this car & definitely secure the RS from starting while in gear. One more question, I am going to install a viper 5701 + pkall bypass, does anyone know the exact wiring for the remote start so that I can prevent the car from starting while in gear?

I have seen a couple of people who create their own neutral switches/parking break & such. What is the best way to go about in wiring the manual transmission RS? If someone could supply me with relay with wiring or something that would be of great help.

I found a wire on the 5701 manual that says the following:

VIOLET (-) 200mA Starter output
This wire works like the starter wire and can be used (with a relay) to drive any additional starter circuits in the vehicle.

Can I use this to bypass the clutch by wiring it to the orange wire on the yellow plug clutch interlock switch? Do I need a relay or can I just wire it directly to the orange wire? Thanks.

you should use a relay, just to prevent excessive current draw.

85 - (-) start trigger from rs
86 - constant 12v
87 - ground
30 - to clutch orange wire.

now, the 5701 WILL NOT start if the vehicle is left in gear when programmed for manual transmission.

you will need to follow a reservation mode in order to start the car.

The PKALL will work fine in your Civic.

The (-) Start wire from your R/S Output 5 Pin connector should be OK to go directly to the cars Orange clutch wire.

The Viper 5701 is manual transmission safe and comes defaulted to manual trans mode.  However you must attach the Tach wire from the R/S Input 5 pin connector to a good tach source.  Any fuel injector will work.

Also you must attach the Neutral Safety wire from the R/S Input 5 pin connector to the cars Parking Brake wire.

And of course you must hook up the door trigger inputs.

a pkall will only do bypass. sine you have an alarm/rs if you look for a CANBUS module, it will save your time. if not a pkall will do just fine.

Tedmond,

Here are the remote start inputs/outputs from my manual, which wire should i use for the "relay pin 85 -(-) start trigger from rs?"...Is it either of the status outputs?

Remote start input, 5-pin connector
1 BLACK/ WHITE (-) NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH INPUT
2 VIOLET/WHITE TACHOMETER INPUT WIRE
3 BROWN (+) BRAKE SHUTDOWN WIRE
4 GRAY N/O or N/C (-) HOOD PIN SWITCH INPUT, ZONE 6
5 BLUE/WHITE (-) 200 mA 2ND STATUS/REAR DEFOGGER

Remote start auxiliary output, 5-pin
1 PINK/WHITE (-) 200mA FLEX RELAY CONTROL OUTPUT
2 ORANGE (-) 200mA ACCESSORY OUTPUT
3 VIOLET (-) 200mA STARTER OUTPUT
4 PINK (-) 200mA IGNITION 1 OUTPUT
5 BLUE (-) 200mA STATUS OUTPUT

Thanks for everyone's help, I am still learning for manual cars as I have done a lot of automatics and have very little experience on manuals.

One last question, since this is a sedan (4door), what is the best way to wire the door triggers? Using the manual from the viper 5701 below:

Primary harness (H1), 12-pin connector
H1/1 RED / WHITE (-) 200mA TRUNK RELEASE OUTPUT
H1/2 RED (+)12v CONSTANT INPUT
H1/3 BROWN (+) SIREN OUTPUT
H1/4 WHITE/
BROWN
LIGHT FLASH -ISOLATION WIRE - PIN 87a of
onboard relay
H1/5 BLACK (-) CHASSIS GROUND
H1/6 VIOLET (+) DOOR TRIGGER INPUT
H1/7 BLUE (-) TRUNK PIN/ INSTANT TRIGGER INPUT
H1/8 GREEN (-) DOOR TRIGGER INPUT
H1/9 BLACK/ WHITE (-) 200mA DOME LIGHT OUTPUT
H1/10 WHITE/ BLUE (-) REMOTE START/ TURBO TIMER ACTIVATION
INPUT
H1/11 WHITE PARKING LIGHT OUTPUT
H1/12 ORANGE (-) 500mA GROUND WHEN ARMED OUTPUT

Do I wire all of the following to H1/8 GREEN (-) DOOR TRIGGER INPUT with a diode isolation?

08 Honda Civic Trigger Colors:
LF Latch GREEN (-) UNDER DASH FUSEBOX
RF Latch LIGHT GREEN (-) UNDER DASH FUSEBOX
LR Latch BROWN (-) UNDER DASH FUSEBOX
RR Latch GRAY (-) UNDER DASH FUSEBOX

Yes, attach door pins to to the Vipers (-) door trigger input.

All four door pins can be found in the Green 42 pin
connector at the top of the fuse box.

The DRIVERS DOOR is a GREEN (-) at Pin 37,
the PASSENGER DOOR is a LIGHT GREEN (-) at Pin 3,
the DRIVERS REAR DOOR is a BROWN (-) at Pin 17 and
the PASSENGER REAR DOOR is a GRAY (-) at Pin 2.
When connecting to an ALARM SYSTEM use all 4 wires
and DIODE ISOLATE.

Thanks kreg for the fast reply. I think I feel about 99% comfortable with this installation now. Only thing left is the clutch bypass with relay to the correct wire on the 5701.

Clutch bypass should be pretty straight forward.  I used a Compustar 5200-s remote start.  It has a (-) Start output  rated at 250ma.  I went directly to the orange wire in the yellow plug at the clutch pedal.  I also attached the R/S's heavy gauge (+) Start output to the heavy gauge yellow wire (+) Start at the ignition switch, although I heard it wasn't necessary.  No problems, the car is working fine but adding a relay to the (-) Start as Ted suggests won't hurt a thing.  Especially since your units (-) Start output is rated at 200ma.

Did you find the hand brake wire?  It's in a White plug on the right side of the steering column.  It is a very light blue color.

Kreg,

So basically using Ted's relay setup I can wire as following:

85 - (-) start output (violet on 5701), which is a 200mA (-) start outp
86 - constant 12v
87 - ground
30 - to clutch orange wire.

Yes, that will work nicely.  Don't forget that in manual transmission mode, you must be in Tach mode and connect the R/S to a tach signal.

Also, as Ted pointed out, there is a procedure to put the car into Reservation mode to enable a remote start.  This Reservation mode ensures that the car was left in neutral with the doors locked.  If any door/trunk is opened afterward the reservation mode is cancelled and the car won't attempt a remote start.

Sorry forgot to ask, is this car a 5 wi type unlock/lock?.....Do I need to use the 2 relay setup (5wire)?

Posted By: tedmond
Date Posted: February 09, 2010 at 6:19 PM

the car has negative door lock triggers.

you will only need one relay if you wish to have Driver door priority access. (unlock driver door first, then the rest of the doors)

yes this is correct.

most of the installs i do, i dont do priority unlock. but this is up to you.

It says on the wiring guide that I need ignition to for remote start, which wire should I wire ignition 2 to on a viper 5701? Here are the wires from the H3 harness on a Viper 5701:

Heavy gauge remote start, (H3)
10-pin connector
1 PINK (+) IGNITION 1 INPUT/OUTPUT
2 RED / WHITE (30A) FUSED IGNITION 2 / FLEX RELAY INPUT 87
3 ORANGE ACCESSORY OUTPUT
4 VIOLET (+) STARTER OUTPUT (CAR SIDE OF THE STARTER KILL WIRE)
5 GREEN (+) STARTER INPUT (KEY SIDE OF THE STARTER KILL WIRE)
6 RED (+) FUSED (30A) IGNITION 1 INPUT
7 PINK/WHITE (+) IGNITION 2 / FLEX RELAY OUTPUT
8 PINK/BLACK FLEX RELAY INPUT 87A key side (if required) of FLEX RELAY
9 RED / BLACK FUSED (30A) ACCESSORY/STARTER INPUT
10 N/C N/C

I'm having a hard time finding the lock/unlock (-) wires, they are suppose to be GREEN/ gray but I disconnect a large multiple pin BLUE harness and found that they gave power to the lock/unlock but there are no gray or green wire in that bundle. Can someone give me a better idea or maybe a picture. Thanks.

The Lock/Unlock wires can be found in a couple of places.

In the harness going thru the drivers kick panel into the door.  The harness will have to be cut open for access.

At the backside of the fuse box ( towards the firewall ) there is a 34 pin connector.  This connector has the Lock, UnLock, Arm & DisArm wires.

Space is very limited in this area.  For a diagram of the fuse box go to the iDatalink web site and look up your car.  Open the install guide for the ADS DL with the ADS DL HA firmware.  https://www.idatalink.com/helpdesk/

Can someone show me where to get the tach wire? I cannot seem to find it by strut tower by ECM. Or can i tap into a cylinder Spark coil? Which color will I be looking for there? Thanks.

The best source for the Tach wire is at any Fuel Injector.  Never did a R/S on a SI, but on the 1.8 L engine the #1 fuel injector is easiest.  There are 2 wires on each injector.  One of the wires is Yellow/Black but you want to connect to the other wire, not the Yellow/Black wire

Bottom line, look at a couple of injectors.  All of them will have 2 wires, and there will be a common color used for one of the wires on all of the injectors.  You want the other wire.  It will be a different color at each injector.

Thanks alot guys I got it to work. Everything is up and running now. I tapped it into the injector, the one with different color on every injector & it worked.

Ok so I got everything working, all triggers/rs/door lock/unlock and basically everything is normal. Except when I click any feature on the remote itself, 2 seconds later it beeps back with the orange transmitter at the top blinking 5 times consecutively with a red error tone on the side of the remote. Everything seems normal except the remote, I am not sure what it is trying to say, I can't seem to find it in the manual. It's a viper 5701 2-way remote. The 1-way remote doesn't do anything but I'm assuming it isn't suppose to.

its a paging error, as its not receiving anything back.

remove the fuse from the larger harness with more wires (not the thick gauge wires). this will reset the brain, then give it a shot

I have tried to pull the fuse and put it back in after waiting 5 minutes & tried the same with the battery. Still no luck. I even tried pulling the battery from the remote, erasing all remotes & then reprogramming them back on. I tried a remote from a different car with the same alarm and still nothing. Do you think it has to do with the brain itself? The alarm was refurbished so that may explain reasoning?

it might not be the brain, rather the antenna. there were many problems with them.

Do you think the 10,000 OHM resistor deal will work? I have read on many threads from different forums about using a resistor or something on one of the wires of the antenna.

that was not a real fix issued by DEI. there was no technical bulletin.

Im having the same problem. I installed a clifford 3.3x in a 2010 subary legacy and the remotes dont work half the time.

hey e10tran.

go into programming, default the unit AND dump all the remotes from the system. After this, pull the fuses out wait a min. put fuses back.

Start from scratch and reprogram the remotes (ensure the 2way is in CAR 1 mode), then do all feature changes necessary. post back results.
