My nieces boyfriend is installing a Viper 5901 in his 2001 Dodge RAM. He has it about finished, but has a problem. He says his parking lights are staying on all the time. The install sheet doesn't say anything about using the isolation wire on the 5901. I did some searching on here and have found some posts that do in fact state that isolation is required on some newer model year RAM's. My question is, does his 2001 require the isolation wire of the 5901 and if so, what size resistor should he use? Thanks

AudioVox says the Parking Light is (+) BLACK / YELLOW wire in a White plug in the drivers kick panel. Be sure to test with a DMM to verify wire.
Are you using a (+) Parking Light output from the Viper? Make sure the Viper's internal parking light fuse is in the (+) position.

Thanks for the reply. I asked him about the fuse and he just went out and switched it. Said it then blew the fuse. So I'm assuming he had it right the first time. I haven't seen the truck but I feel like he's located the right wire. I'm thinking he needs to use the isolation wire. I was hoping somebody had done a 2001 and could verify that for me. Directechs lists BLACK / YELLOW (+) at the headlight switch. its been awhile since i've done an 01 ram but if i remember correctly it should be easily accesible by removing the switch and grabbing it there. parking light isolation didnt start til 02. to verify if it might be a late 01 model check the headlight switch for a purple / YELLOW. test it for a fluctuating ground when turning the lights of and on. if you have that its the way to go. if no purple / YELLOW, then verify with a dmm he has the correct parking light wire. if it is there it will be either 330 ohms or 1.4k ohms
