ok the vehicle is a 2010 scion xb with a manual transmission no factory alarm other that the keyless entry that comes standard. i am looking to do this install myself I have done two other alarm installs one of which was a compustar 2 way unit hidden behind the cluster of my 1993 civic and a simple viper 350hv into a 1995 Integra. I feel comfortable soldering so that’s not a problem I live in az and its been hitting 116 lately and i need my car cool before me and my newborn get in. I have the alarm diagram and have been separating the wires to prepare for the install but this alarm has confused me. This is where I’m hoping one of you will step in and save the day.

I'll let a Viper expert answer most of your questions but your xB needs a transponder bypass.  There are many available but some of the pre-loaded, easy to install ones are PKALL or Key-Override-All.

It would get connected to the Viper in W2W mode via H2/10 (-) Status Output and +12v power & ground.

i did extensive research and many people say that the xb does not need one my key doesnt have a chip in the key.

If yours doesn't have the  transponder, that will save you some time & money on the R/S install.  Also being as you don't have a factory alam you won't need to use H2/10 for keysense...

some xb models had them. Im sure the 2010 has it for sure.

i dont deal with viper much, so like kregs said, this is for the DEI specialists.

Look for a red light somewhere on the dash or cluster flashing when the car is off and/or wrap the plastic part of your key in tin foil throughly and try to start the car. If it doesn't start then you have a transponder. Or look at the metal part of the key. If it has a small dot or a g printed on it near the plastic part that means it has a transponder.

Another way is to get a plain key made at a hardware store / Home Depot / WalMart for $3 and try it.

Or you could pull the steering wheel cover and look for the transponder antenna ring and its' black 7 pin connector.  Pin 4 - RX - Light Blue,  Pin 5 - TX - Beige.

The wire lists suggest there are 2 Starter and 2 Ignition wires in the xB.  After you verify this with a DMM, you can use the Flex relay for ING2 and will need another SPDT 30/40 Amp relay to energize the second Starter wire.

what wire would i use to energize the second starter relay?

Going by the Responder LC 5901 Install guide in the downloads section ... Remote start auxiliary output, 5-pin connector.  Violet wire at pin 3.

This wire works like the starter wire and can be used (with a relay) to drive any additional starter circuits in the vehicle.

perfect i just found this answer as well one final question and i should have all i need. i have an extra relay for the second starter and one for the clutch bypass since im pretty sure i need one to show the clutch is depressed. i just have no idea how to hook this relay up. or is there an easier way of showing the alarm the clutch pedal is depressed without bypassing the clutch switch completely?

this is a relay diagram i have come up with, let meknow if this sounds ok.

pin 87--groung

pin 86-constant 12v

pin 30- clutch wire

pin 85-- to remote status output wire

if this is correct which status output should it be connected to?

If the signal for the clutch is positive you have the wiring a little of her's how it should be

Pin 87- 12 volts constant fused at a value that i can't say for sure(someone else will have to chime in here).

Pin 86- ignition.

Pin 85- status output (the starter status should work).

Pin 30- To the clutch wire that recieves the signal when it's depressed.

The relay wiring above is good if the clutch interlock switch needs to see a ground when depressed to allow a start.  Some cars have two switches on the clutch, one for starting and one for cruise control...  I haven't done any Scions with a manual transmission.  To actuate the relay you can use the (-) Status Output if you don't need it for a transponder bypass.  Otherwise, on the Remote Start Input 5 Pin harness, there is a Blue/White wire at pin 5 that can be programmed for (-) 2nd Status Output.  That will work fine.

Hi I have same car as above but automatic, my viper will arm and disarm but when remote activated it says error, lights will come up on dashboard and after few seconds the dashboard lights and parking lights will flash 8 times, according to the manual it means no ground or neutral wire but its grounded, don't know what I did wrong I will post my wiring connections.

have you programmed tyhe alarm to automatic mode? definitely hook up the brake wire, and make sure the connections for your second starter are correct. the horn output uses your factory horn in addition to the viper siren or instead of it

also hook up your door trigger wire even to just one door till you get the remote start working i nknow your xb is auto but on mine it senses when a door is open and cancels the ability for remote start as a safety feature. what wiring diagram are you using? if you need one from directwire i do have it so you can triple check everything just post your email address

Yeah I have changed it from manual to automatic with bit writer, got my wiring diagram with the alarm its sorce its from Direct Wire, I wiil get to it tomorrow with the brake wire and try the door wire, are you talking about the H1 connectin door triggers or the actual door lock connector with 3 wires, also how hard is to find the door wires in fuse box  are they same colors as in direct wire diagram? I got relay for 2nd Ignition, and 2nd starter is only H3/9 or do I need relay for that also?

pm me your email address ill send you the schematic i have it has detailed locations of every wire the door triggers are in the drivers kick panel you have to diode isolate all four and youll be using the - door trigger wire only. i used an external relay for the second starter.

im pretty sure you can use the flex relay for either the second starter or secind ignition but it may also need to be programmed.

Ok got my brake wire connected and trigger wire to left front door, but still same problem it will arm and disarm but no remote start, still 8 flashes, but when i try to start the car with key no problem as long as its in disarm mode, when armed the dashboard will light up but won't start with key, and remote says "alarm key on", I'm wondering if my wiring is correct cause I have found out that there are marks on the ignition plug and its reversed in compare to what direct wire says here is what I'm talking about

car plug marks                                                       direct wire

1.ST1                                  white                            1.ST2

2.AM1                                  yellow                           2. 12V 7.5A

3.ACC                                  black                             3.ACC

4.IGN1                                 white                             4. IGN2

5.blank

6.IGN2                                  gray                               6.IGN1

7.AM2                                    white                             7.12V 30A

8. ST2                                    white                             8. ST1

would that make any difference if all my connections are connected just as direct wire?

Ok I found and fix the pink/white wire still would not remote start. Alarm works fine, but car will not remote start. It tries 3 times and get error low tach signal on the 2way remote in automatic mode. Tach is learn. I really want to be able to use the manual trasmission mode. when i switch to manual mode I get remote start not available. Do I need an external relay?

If anyone has a detailed wiring, that would be very helpful.

Thanks
