Hi,
I purchased the viper 5101 last weekend. It is set now for 2 pulse, so when I go to start it I have to press the button 2 times in perfect timing to get it to start. Is there an easy way to change this so I only have to press the button once to start? Seems like it takes several trys with the 2 pulse method. Can I change this on my own or do I need to bring it back to Best Buy and have them do it?
thanks!

Yes go into the programming adjustments on the installation sheet.

If you carry the remote in your pocket be prepared to idle you car quite a bit when set to one pulse. Every time I bent down I started my truck when I was set to one pulse. Now that I'm at two pulses it only happens one in every 4 times I bend down.

Agreed. I had a Compustar RF1BAM, the one with the small one button remotes. You had to press the button for 2.5 seconds for a start and I still did frequent "pocket starts". ------------- Soldering is fun!

thanks for the info. So sounds like I will be better off to keep it at the 2 pulse option. Have you guys figured out the timing? It seems I have to try multiple times to get it, or do you just live with that? Any tips are appreciated!
thanks again

Press once, wait 1.5 secs and press again...bloody nuisance but better than the 1 push alternative.

Yep, wait at least 1.5 seconds if not 2 to 3 seconds and then be patient, sometimes it doesn't start right away (lag).

I said 1.5 seconds because that's how long the DEI validity pulse takes to work. That's something I've never understood because with the G4/5 Cliffords that's instant, with DEI click, one thousand and one click.
With G4/5 it's click click.

I usually press and hold the start button, the transmit led will flash twice, let go, press again, the led flashes once and its good. ------------- When all else fails, Read the Instructions
