Ok, I have a Mercedes-Benz G500 coming in is there anything special to them, I know they have the smart key, but the customer is bringing an extra key. Can I just bypass the transponder with the key like i would normally. I haven't been able to locate any bypass modules for it so im assuming everything is wire to wire. Wire info i have looks to be pretty straight forward, just never done one looking for confirmation.
And additional info would be nice do not have access to directwire so i cant check there info for anything special.

The only R/S that will work on these is a standalone by Fortin.
EVERYTHING else is CAN controlled, bloody good luck and let us know what happens. DEI doesn't even list a by-pass.

so please explain what R/S from fortin your refering to, and if everything is CAN controlled, i cant go wire to wire to the ones on the data sheet?

Anyone else have anything they can add?

The reasons I came on a bit brusque:
To the best of my knowledge NO ONE made a by-pass for M/B even before the "magic keys".
Because of their CAN systems there's a chance that ANY wiring you add will cause grief equalling (very) expensive dealer trips.
The Fortin unit is simply a remote start, but then the vehicle is alarmed up to the hilt ex-factory. It's expensive but it's pretty straight forward and easy to install, using the factory remote. At least it looks that way from the video.
I suggest you visit the Fortin, Idatalink and Express Kit web sites before you try any installs.
Over here on late European cars the alarm manufacturers have all introduced CAN alarms with different flash loading for different makes. All using the factory remotes.

OK, so lets see here.

Theres a standalone unit from fortin for this install, correct? do you have a model/Part Number for it?

If you are refering to the Compustar/Firstech DC Mercedes Controller then dont worry about the Model/Part Number I have it.

If you are referring to that module it states from 2005 up G-Class, Im working on a 2002. Is it still Compatible?

Seems to me something changed in 05 on the G-500 because they dont even offer wiring for past 2004 and thats from multiple sources.

I understand the CAN system and what it does im not new at this, but just because it has a CAN system does not mean you HAVE to use a module. Ive never done this vehicle so im asking questions

I know theres no module for it which leaves me to believe 3 things

1. It can be bypassed with a factory coded key and wire to wire installation as Normal

2. There is a Factory Module like the Compustar DC Data Controller that integrates into the car for you

3. It Cant be done

Thank You for your help

and howie II you didnt come of brusque to me thanks for you input, any more help would be appreciated

I can't answer your questions, YOU have to do the research.
My personal feeling is to RUN from any German car after 2002 on, worse after 05/6.
Any wire to wire ERRORS will cost you dearly.
I don't know any specialist in the UK who hasn't had nightmares with them.
In World War ll the Tiger Tank was much, much better in combat than the Shermans and T34s, except the US and Russian tanks were less complicated and could be repaired in the field, the Tigers had to go back to Germany!
