I am new to compustar, I need at least firmware 3.11 for the cm6000 to function correctly with a drone unit. I am using a fortin evo-all bypass unit w2w setup.
I was told to go to the idatalink website and I could update the firmware from there for my cm6000 brain. I have tried both the iweblink updater 4 and 5 and they both recognize my remote starter and say to push unlock to unlock my rs232. I press the button and they run and the bar turns green. After that, nothing. I can not go to step 2.
Any ideas?

The only way to use the iDatalink site to update your Compustar CM6000 is to have a Blade bypass module installed in it.  If you have a Blade module not being used your could insert it temporairily to do the compustar firmware upgrade.

With the Blade module installed, connect the ADS USB cable to the correct port.  Then go thru the iDatalink web sites process to change / load the firmware on the Blade.  When you get to the page where you can actually flash the new firmware onto the Blade module, you will see a section at the right side of the screen where it will tell you there is a newer version of firmware available for the CM6000.  That is where you can choose to update the Compustars' firmware.  As a bonus, it will also offer you an opportunity to set all of the options ( except Special Option Group 2 ).

Short of that, you would have to have "Authorized Dealer" access to the Compustar web site to update your CM6000.
