Sorry, missed this on the time lag! Yes, just twist the dial, that's where we always took it from, you've got to run to the rear of the vehicle to pick up the coil.
4 wires at rear of gauge, BLACK/ something 12v+ ign, brown ground, grey/something illumination, the fourth is tach.
