2008 dodge grand caravan sxt

2008 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT. Remote start installed. Crimestopper RS-4 Fortin Evo-CHR bypass. Hooked up as per directions (Evo-CHR T1 with Data link). Everything works. Except....

Shifter won't shift out of park. This is whether it's remote started or even just started with the key. Did some research.
I do have brake lights.
I checked the mini fuses.
I used the manual bypass switch to shift it out of park and I checked that the ignition hangs on to the key if it isn't in park. It does hold onto the key and I can't turn it to the "off" position if it's not in park.
I do hear a little sound when I press the side button on the shifter when I'm in park. Kinda like a faint click. So I guess maybe it's trying to do something.
I just went and checked and it makes the same faint click whether I step on the brake or not.

Looking for Ideas.

Okay went back out today. Took the dash apart way further than before so I could access the ignition better. disconnected the fortin bypass "T" harness and reconnected the original plug back into my ignition.

The good news is that everything is back to normal. It will shift out of park when I step on the brake. So it's not the switch at the brake or anything I broke. It's just my install.

So I have it hooked up as two way data link (page 3 of revision m instructions) Thinking of trying to hook up a few more wires from the one way data link page and see if that works. Anyone with experience with the Evo-CHR and the 08 Caravan?

While typing this and looking at the instalation instructions I noticed

While looking at the installation instructions I noticed that in step 7c of programming there is a note for vehicles with + starter at ignition....

Note: Ensure the Lt Blue/Black wire from the module is connected to the vehicle

I did step 7c in programming but I didn't hook up that wire. I think I do have positive starter at ignition. Not really sure which wire this would go to or if this would matter as far as unlocking the shifter from park.

looked up two possible wires to hook it to

Automobile Engine Starter Wire (+): BLACK/ White
Automobile Engine Starter Wire Location: Ignition Switch Harness

or

Light Blue/Red + ignition harness (12 volts 2)

I'm guessing it's the first one

The car already starts though. Would this have anything to do with it not shifting out of park? I don't want to reprogram the bypass if I don't have to because it says it can only be done five times

Solved: Figure I'd post it here so it may help some other amateur in the future.

Apparently the crimestopper is one way data link.

It was the brake input to the Crimestopper... I hooked the + brake output from the Fortin (orange) to the + brake (purple) of the crimestopper and all is well.

Seems pretty basic but I was convinced that the Crimestopper was two way data link. I was able to start the car with just the data cable from the Evo-CHR and antenna hooked up to the Crimestopper. Also the car would shut off if I hit the brake without the key in it so I figured all was well with that signal. It is apparent now that it was shutting off because the Evo was shutting down not because the brake signal was passing anything off to the car.

So there you have it. Thanks for letting me think out loud. Even though there were no responses here you guys on this forum have helped me immensely with this install and a few others in the past.
