autopage rs 1000 gound while running prob

I'm having problems with the ground while running on my Autopage RS-1000. I need this to bypass the VATS immobilizer for the remote start. I first had the RS-1000 installed in a 1998 Buick Regal. The remote start worked at first, but then started working intermittently. I would have to periodically reprogram my bypass module and then it would work for a while. Eventually however it stopped working all together. By that time it was the end of winter and I gave it up.

Well, I recently got a 1992 Camaro, and I installed the RS-1000 in that - I'm now trying to get the remote start working again. I spent 6 months working with the manufacturer of the bypass module trying to diagnose the problem and was unable to figure it out. I finally just bought the resistor I needed and wired it in, but it still didn't work. That's when I tested the ground while running coming out of the RS-1000. I tested continuity while initiating the remote start, and the multimeter showed infinite resistance the entire time. I then contacted Autopage and they told me to use a different wire (which the instructions say is a 200mA rather than the 500mA wire that's intended for the bypass module). I tested that wire and got 0 resistance during the remote start process, so I hooked up they bypass module to it. The remote start worked once, then stopped working. I tested the wire again - not grounding when running now.


Anybody have ANY ideas what I could do, why the ground while running aren't working, etc? Any help is greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

Do you care about the vats system?
because you can just hook in the resistor, loop it, and call it a day. then you can get keys made without the resistor in place.

I've personally never used a bypass module on a vats system. it's so simple to integrate with.

Yea, I know I can disable it easily I already have the resistors and everything, but I'd much rather keep the VATS functional...one more layer of security, you know?

have you tried testing like this...
positive lead of meter on constant 12v and black negative on the Ground when running? and see what your meter reads when you try to remote start it?

No, I have not tried testing like that. What would I be tseting for (volts, amps, ohms?) and what should I be getting?

which wire on the bypass are you hooking the ground while running to? i always have nothing but problems with omega bypasses

The wire that the instructions tell me to hook up to the ground while running from the alarm, lol...the bypass module is CrimeStopper brand, made by a company called Fortin.

I know that the problem is with the alarm not the bypass though; for one I spent 6 months working with support at Fortin trying to figure out what was wrong, and two, when I measure resistance on the various ground while running wires I get infinite resistance during the entire remote start process.
