Hi,

I just recently installed a viper 550 ESP (I know, it's old) into my wife's 2003 Ford Escape XLS 2wd V6. Everything seems to work fine: keyless entry, alarm, and remote starting. Just recently, sometimes when you unlock (disarm) the viper alarm, the car will honk the horn like someone has hit panic on the factory remotes. In order for this to stop I need to unlock the doors with the Factory key fob or use the key in the driver door to shut the horn off. I don't think this vehicle had any kind of factory alarm, just remote keyless entry. (If I lock the doors with the factory remote, or door lock button in the car and reach in through an open window to open the door, nothing happens so I'm sure there isn't a factory alarm.) Do I need to pulse a signal to the GEM for factory alarm disarm? I have the lock/unlock going thru a DEI 456LW to the unlock/lock wire of the GEM (pink/white).

Vehicle Info:
2003 Ford Escape XLS 2WD V6 AUTO
VIPER 550ESP
DEI 456LW Doorlock interface
PKFM Immobilizer bypass
Domelight supervision via NC Relay

Thanks,

Paul

Did you wait at least 30 seconds before reaching in the window to open the door?

Since it has the optional V6, it wouldn't be a surprise if it has an alarm too.

I forget the color, but the tech sheet should list a disarm wire. It's in the driver's running board right with the lock wires.

Also, what makes the alarm arm is if someone locks the doors using the factory lock button while the door is open, and then closes it.
