I have a 1996 Nissan 240sx with a Autopage RF-315 alarm. I let a friend borrow my car and have had problems since. When I got the car back the alarm was set to valet mode. Once I turned off valet mode the alarm locks and unlocks the doors with the ignition on/off but the key fob no longer unlocks the doors.

I walked away and when I went to the store later the alarm worked normally when I got in. Doors unlocked with the fob and everything seemed fine. I got home and the doors didn't unlock when I turned off the car or with the unlock button but the unit does still lock the doors and arm the alarm.

What I want to know is if I should attempt to reprogram the fob/settings of if this sounds like the unit is defective. It has been working well for about two years before this incident. I have the manuals for install and operation here:

I am guessing that the unit is failing. I just would like some input before I spend the money to replace it as funds are really limited right now.

Thanks for any help that you can offer.

I'm a bit confused by what you wrote,
Locks and unlocks with ignition YES/NO??
Locks and unlocks with Autopage remote YES/NO??

Amateurs assume, don't test and have problems; pros test first. I am not a free install service.
Read the installation manual, do a search here or online for your vehicle wiring before posting.

Sorry for any confusion.

The problem has been found. Short in the unlock wire connection.

Thanks anyway though. I would delete this topic but I do not have permission to do so.

Don't worry it will simply fade away! Glad you found the solution.
