Hello, today I installed an Audiovox CA6551 into my 1998 Subaru Forester with a manual transmission. I got the alarm, shock sensor, and door locks to work, but I cannot get the remote start to work. I also noticed that the alarm is not triggering the parking lights (with any function).

I've tried putting the alarm in tach learn mode but as far as I can tell it isn't responding. This function signals the parking lights to notify you of success, so as stated before, with the inop parking lights this is kinda difficult. I also tried putting the alarm in tachless mode, but that did not work.

Lastly, at the moment I have the neutral safety switch jumped so that it tricks it into always being engaged, but I realized that this will prevent me from being able to operate my cruise control, is there any way around this?

Thanks everyone in advance!

Yes... installing it correctly. First of all, you are not bypassing the neutral safety switch, I'm assuming you mean the clutch switch. It needs to be bypassed using a relay so that it only bypasses during remote start activation. However, if the unit does not have a neutral safety switch input or some way of not allowing it to remote start if the vehicle is in gear then you need to get a unit designed for a manual transmission or a unit that will accept a neutral safety switch input.

The unit has a neutral safety switch input (-) that I connected to ground (as an attempted temporary "bypass"). Would this not work?

Also, I did not install a hood switch yet. The install manual states "this wire will register ground when the hood is open" so I assume having the wire disconnected will make the alarm "think" that the hood is closed. Am I right?

Lastly, I installed a starter relay, using the following connections:

85 - Alarm orange "ground when armed (-)"
86 - 12v constant
87a - Starter (ignition side)
30 - Starter (motor side) AND alarm purple "starter output motor side"

Are any of these errors that anyone can see?

Also, parking lights I installed as:

Alarm WHITE/ red parking light input - Vehicle BLACK/ white parking light (-) "function with ign only"

And

Alarm white parking light output - Vehicle orange parking light (+)

But looking at the install manual I am wondering if I installed this improperly. The manual reads:

Positive switching parking lights:
Connect RED / white to a 15A fused battery source
Connect the white wire to the parking light output wire

Negative switching parking lights:
Connect the WHITE/ red wire to ground
Connect the white wire to the parking light output

I'm confused by this, im assuming I wired these incorrectly?

86 on the relay to ignition.
There should be a factory (-) at neutral on the engine management.
Find this and use it then you can set it up as an auto.

Read the installation manual, do a search here or online for your vehicle wiring before posting.
