gmdlbp / 5303l / 2005 silverado base

Hello all,

First off, thanks to all for the wealth of information that this forum provides and in advance for the help that you all can provide me.

My history on installing remote start/alarm systems is slight. I'm a quick study but quite particular about making sure everything is absolutely, 100%, correct before engaging the system. I am sure that most of my questions will be very remedial.

I am working on a 2005 Silverado 2500hd base model, extended cab.Vehicle has no driver door module - just the lock/unlock wires in the bcm. It came factory with power locks but no keyless entry.

I am going to be installing the 5303L and GMDLBP bypass into this unit. In reading the directions, it appears as though I have to cut the starter wire and attach one starter wire to the key side and the other to the starter side. I am assuming this is the "yellow" wire going to the connector that's energized when cranking - correct assumption?

Also, shall I connect the orange ground when armed circuit from the bypass to the remote start?

Does the activation input on the 5303l get tied into the the bypass or is that the factory alarm disarm...or neither one?

You only have to cut the starter wire if you want anti-grind(for key takeover upon remote start) and starter kill(for security). If you do not wish for those features, just connect the purple start wire to the vehicles yellow starter wire.

You will want to connect the ground when running(gwr)/status output to the bypass ground when running.

The ground when armed would be for activating other fancy security lights, sensors, etc when the vehicle is locked/armed.

Do not tie the activation input to the bypass. The activation wire is for activating the remote start with a ground pulse through that wire.
