Hi, My first post;great site. I have a old 1994 avital cyclone mark ll car alarm in my '94 Toyota pickup. This system has worked great all these years and has saved my truck from thiefs .     my question is the siren or horn stopped making noise when you arm and disarm the alarm; the alarm still works but has no sound out of the siren. I checked power to the red wire going to the siren it tested good 12v . Is there any way to jump the black wire to siren to ground to see if the siren is no good? I tried to reset the alarm and that did not work still no sound? If my siren is no good can you tell me what a replacement would be Thanks

If the red wire is carrying a constant, just strip the black wire siren end and ground it.
If the siren sounds you're OK. Then the problem is at the alarm end, siren driver failed?
Connection corroded? Try the other end of that cut black wire and see if you get a ground when the alarm is triggered.
That should eliminate the major reasons for fail.
If it's a siren failure frankly any 12V+ siren will work in its place.

Test before boxing up.

You can hook the sirens directly to a battery to test, just be prepared to jump out of your skin for a second! posted_image

You can get a new siren on Amazon for about $10. DEI's model is the 514N.

No question is stupid or not worth asking. You were once a noob, right? :)
