So i let my subscription lapse for 2 weeks, and just now got around to renewing it. I did so friday. Even thought the "mysmartstart" page says my subscription is active the device won't connect. The green light is solid(can see the main unit) but the amber light is flashing amber rapidly.

Going by the manual it says it is communicating but the app still won't connect. I get the "App can't communicate with the car(12)" error

I have check all the wiring and can find nothing wrong, in the off chance something happened while it was disabled. I can't find much info about this issue. i have read somewhere that viper may have to force a connection. But US support has been closed the past 3 days. They got a long weekend for the holiday.
Thanks

Not sure if this mattered, but the notification said i should do it.
All this is on a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Connected to a Viper 5704 alarm

Unplugging the power and plugging it back in usually fixes that code 12 error. Be sure you are only removing power from the smart start box, if you remove power from the remote start or interface you may need to reprogram those.

Just wait for the LEDS to come on solid or a slow repeating flash means standing by for network access.

Just had the same issue. I unplugged the smart start about 10 times. When we called tech they said they had to "wake up the SIM chip". You may have to call to get it straightened out
