I'm installing a Viper 5706v in my 1999 Acura Integra hatchback. It has power locks but no way to open the trunk except by using a lever outside of the car itself. I am going to use one of the option functions of the alarm to activate the trunk release solenoid and add a button on the dash to do the same thing.

However, I would really like the ability to use my remote to not only unlatch the trunk but make it pop open enough for the gas lift supports to bring it open all the way. I figure the best way to do this would be with one of the shaved handle poppers that hodrodders use. My question is, how would I go about wiring this? I want the relay to unlatch, then pop. Would I need more than one relay?

Door poppers are just spring loaded plungers that push (pop) the door open when the latch releases. All mechanical, nothing to wire on them.

Wow, really? Haha I feel pretty foolish. So the popper just gets compressed when the door/hatch is closed again?

That would be correct.
