Please go easy on me. I haven't been here in awhile bit need help for the experts.

I have a new 2014 Tacoma with factory keyless and immobilizer. I want to have the Viper Smart Start two way alarm installed. But I do not want the remote start. I just want the capability of having my phone notify me when my alarm goes off. I don't want the factory immobilizer bypassed during the installation. I also am not sure about the starter kill feature. Will this also bypass the immobilizer? My local shop wants to sell me a Viper 2 way alarm and the Smart Start for an additional 150. Can I just get the Smart Start installed by itself or does it need an alarm to work?

Thanks for you time.

Smart Start is an add-on module for a DEI brand alarm or remote start. It's not a standalone $150 unit. If you want to only be notified of your alarm going off on your phone, you might want to be aware of system lag between the time your car alarm goes off to the time you phone is notified it has gone off, which is done via a text message if I recall correctly.

About 2 minutes. Yes you can use it with a DEI alarm.

Read the installation manual, do a search here or online for your vehicle wiring before posting.
