I have 2001 Nissan Altima with stock antitheft and Audiovox APS785. After testing remote starter with the key in the ignition and when I start the car, it cranks and starts the car. 2 seconds later it shuts down. Enabled diagnostic menu in APS785 and it shows, the car was shutdown because "Run Timer expired".   Any advice what should I check next before replacing the whole system.

New install or Old install?

Are you utilizing a tach signal/wire? Have you "learned" the tach?

Do you have a transponder/chipped key? Are you using a transponder bypass?

When the car cuts off does the ignition stay on or is it cutting off in simultaneously with the car?

Remote starter has been installed about 10 years ago but for the last few years it wasn't used. When I tried to relearn tach, I couldn't get any signals from turn lights nor horn, but it was getting dark. After thinking for a while, I think tach option could be disabled in the menu which I'll check tomorrow. I did check tack wire and it was live, meter were showing AC voltage. If there is something else should be checked, please let me know, so I can kill 2 birds with one shot :)

It should be using tach wire.
I'm using a chip from key next to ignition.
It cranks the car and starts the car normally and after 2 seconds it just shuts off the engine with a diagnostic error 1) run timer expired. It does it 3 times. Looks like remote starter unit can't see the car started even though it did start and I believe it could be due to tach wire being disabled in the option which I'll check tomorrow

Sounds like the internal circuitry might be corrupted if the tach feed checks out OK.
Remove all fuses and ground, let it sit for 20 minutes, power up again and reprogram tach etc.

Amateurs assume, don't test and have problems; pros test first. I am not a free install service.
Read the installation manual, do a search here or online for your vehicle wiring before posting.
