Unit is a Compustar Cs800s using the CM800 control unit. Anyone know why when i use the remote start, the A/C temp defaults to 75 degrees. When using the key to start, the A/C restarts using the same temp from when it was shut down? Also what if anything can be done to remedy this issue? Thanks

If the a/c system works normal with the key. I would check your remote start wiring and make sure the remote start is powering everything up the exact same way as the key . Meaning ignition is being power as ignition not accessory and vise versa

That's a side effect of the luxury of driver personalization. The car remembers the climate control settings based on the key used, and since the remote start doesn't use your key to start the car the settings it gets on the climate control are way different.

No known real fix that I know of. The work around is to remote start the car, set the climate control the way you desire for the next remote start and shut off the remote start. The next remote start will have the climate control recall this setup.

That sounds like what is really happening. Thanks

General interest, same applies to VW/Audi models according to Xpresskit.

I do find it odd that nobody has figured out how to circumvent this situation. I would think supplying a ground or power somewhere, like the key likely does, would fix it.

You can do it if you can add a CPU and write the code for it.

Im surprised they would make it that complicated to change.

It's not that easy, the personalization is linked to the transponder in the key. When the car reads the transponder it uniquely identifies that key from any and all others and recalls the settings last used with that key. The only way to easily address the issue to for the bypass to be an exact clone of the key which is not always possible depending on the encryption technology used. Even if you go this route, it only works successfully with one key. If you use another (spare) key things are all messed up again. You can try to reprogram the car to not have driver personalization but the aftermarket market isn't quick to start reprogramming computers for all the cars their product could be used in especially on new expensive cars or old cars.

In other words, it's just something you'll have to live with. No one is going to go back and address it on a 1999 anything and if the was even addressable they would have already done it.

In the winter time set the remote start to high heat, in the summer time set it to low cool. Remote start the car and then when you get in the car hit the break to shut the car down and use your key to immediately restart. It's a minor inconvenience but it will "fix" your issue.

Agreed crank your heat or AC before doing a key takeover and it should remember those settings next time
