I'm looking at installing an add - on keyless entry keypad like the Accele RS-505 or the Boyo A - Pass. My truck has a gray key, but I'm not sure if it has the factory alarm. There is a red LED in the cluster. From what I've read, I'd need a double unlock pulse to disarm the factory alarm (if present) and unlock the truck. Both units only offer a single unlock pulse. How would I know if the alarm is there?

3 ways to test on Chrysler's for an alarm.

First if you have a factory transmitter roll down the driver's window. Then close all doors/hood/tailgate. Press the lock button of the factory transmitter 2x. Then wait at least 45 seconds. I usually give it 2 minutes to make sure. Reach in through the open driver's window and physically unlock the door and open it. Simulating a thief smashing the window. If no alarm sounds after opening the door you do not have an alarm.

Second method for testing  roll down the driver's window. Then close all doors/hood/tailgate. Insert the key into the driver's door exterior lock and turn it to lock 2x. Then wait at least 45 seconds. I usually give it 2 minutes to make sure. Reach in through the open driver's window and physically unlock the door and open it. Simulating a thief smashing the window. If no alarm sounds after opening the door proceed to method 3.

Third method for testing roll down the driver's window. Then close all doors/hood/tailgate except the drivers door. Press the Lock button on the drivers door 2x and then immediately close the driver's door. Then wait at least 45 seconds. I usually give it 2 minutes to make sure. Reach in through the open driver's window and physically unlock the door and open it. Simulating a thief smashing the window. If no alarm sounds after opening the door you do not have an alarm.
