Hi,

I had the Python 571XP remote starter on my car and the 2 way remote stopped working, the 1 way remote was still work fine until I lost it a couple months ago.

I bought a replacement remote, Viper 488V 2 way LED.
Programmed the new remote and keyless entry worked fine but remote start won't work.

I've done all possible trouble shooting I can think of like make sure valet mode was not set, check all wirings and everything was ok.

When I press the start button on the remote, did not see any activities on the remote control like relay clicking.....

I need help to figure out why the replacement remote did not work with remote starting.

Thank you,

Delete the old transmitters and then program the new one(s) for auto-learn.

I only auto program and did not delete the old transmitter.

How do I delete the old transmitter ?

Channel 1 is auto-learn, program a known remote to Channel 11 to erase all known remotes and revert all settings to default.

You can also program individual buttons to certain functions, one being remote start - see the installation manual on how to do this.

Thank you,

I did the following:

1/ Delete the old transmitter:
    - Turn On ignition
    - Press the program switch 11 times
    - Press 1 more time then hold it
    - The LED flashing 11 times twice
    - Release the program button.
    - Turn off ignition
2/ Auto learn:
    - Turn On ignition
    - Press the program switch 1 time
    - Press 1 more time then hold it
    - The LED flashing 7 times.
    - Release the program button
    - Turn off ignition

I tested remote start by pressing the * button, TX/RX LED flashing, no * LED on the remote and nothing happened.

That's not the procedure and the LED definitely should not flash seven times when your programming a new remote with auto-learn.

Please read page 27-28 of the prior linked installation guide for proper trasmitter programming procedures.

I followed page 27-28, steps 1-4 with auto learn

1. Key. Turn the ignition to the ON position.
2. Press the program button once + one more and hold it
3. Press lock, unlock, AUX and *
4. Release the program button

I still don't get it to work, what am I missing here ?
Sorry, please bare with me and I've tried to follow all steps I could.

1. Turn ignition ON
2. Press and Release the program switch once (auto-learn)
3. Press and Hold the program switch, the LED will flash and the horn (if connected) will honk once to confirm auto-learn selection.
4. While holding program switch (per step 3 above), press Arm/Lock on the remote to be learned. The unit will chirp to confirm the remote has been learned. Repeat this step for any additional remotes to be learned.
5. Once finished adding remotes, release the program switch.
6. Turn off ignition to exit programming mode.

I followed the above steps and nothing happened.
I've done the following.
1. Turn ignition ON.
2. Press and Release the program switch once.
3. Press and hold the program sw- the LED flash once slowly and a total of 7 times.
4. Press Arm/Lock on the remote - the parking light flashed 30 times + the remote chirp.
5. Release the program sw.
6. Turn off ignition.

This still not doing anything and is it weird ?
I had this remote starter installed by Best Buy a couple years ago, do you think it's programmed by the Bitwriter and it's locked ?

"The learn routine may be locked if previously programmed using the Bitwriter. If the horn generates one long
honk when attempting to program the unit, the learn routine is locked and must be unlocked using the Bitwriter™
before proceeding." - Straight from the manual.

As for what I think, I can only go by what I read in the posts and play the odds on what I don't have certainty in but if a big box dealer installed it, it is very likely they used a bitwriter to program the system initially.
