Subject: remote start stuck in default manual mode

Im installing a Viper 5806 into a 1996 Express van.
Everything is wired up and the alarm portian seems to work good except for my door locks keep making clicking sounds , door locks do lock and unlock from Viper remote .
My question is why wont my Viper go into Automatic mode
I get the 7 chirps when trying to remote start.
I tried the procedure below many times
open door
key on
key off
press + hold valet button
chirp 3 times
release
press valet once
press + hold valet
chirp once
while still holding valet in i press unlock on viper remote
supposed to chiro twice mine chirps 3 times
release valet button
key on
key off

then my parking lights flash 7 times

Is there any thing else i can try to get out of manual transmission mode

Either make sure the green wire at H2 goes to ground on open door or temporarily ground it. Or borrow or buy a Bitwriter and change it via the Bitwriter.

Amateurs assume, don't test and have problems; pros test first. I am not a free install service.
Read the installation manual, do a search here or online for your vehicle wiring before posting.

Door locks keep making clicking sounds? How are your locks wired?

BLACK/ White neutral safety wire connected/grounded?

Toggle switch plugged in? Turned On?

"while still holding valet in i press unlock on viper remote
supposed to chiro twice mine chirps 3 times " - Try pressing lock instead, what happens?

Where abouts did you get the 5806v? NIB (New in Box)?

Initially my door locks where wired with Vipers blue door lock output to the vans blue lock wire and the Vipers green door lock output wired to the vans white unlock wire .
With it wired that way it would unlock when I pressed lock and lock when I pressed unlock.
So I reversed the wires .
Now Viper blue to van white
and Viper green to van blue
Now measuring with voltmeter I get no output at all from Viper door lock outputs!
I was getting door lock output until I reveresed the wires.
I applied a 12volt wire to vans lock and unlock wires and they work fine.
I was thinking the door locks continuously clicking may have been from a bad/weak ground , not for sure.
BLACK/ white neutral wire is grounded.
I bypassed the toggle switch .
Yea , tried pressing lock too , Bit wrighters coming in mail so my only problem now is the door locks.
Do you think the door lock outputs are dead or is there a way to turn them on?
If there dead I'll probably buy another unit and swap the brain in and then take the dead one apart and see if I can fix.
I bought it new in box from Ebay your Audio shop $198.50

Thanks for taking the time guys.

Make sure you have it plugged into the right spot. If it worked one way there's no reason why it shouldn't work the other way nor should it stop working from just reversing the connection. I have to wonder if the 5806v has (+) output on the door lock wires, if it has only (-) output then you need relays to convert the polarity.

The directions for the Viper 5806
Blue -500mA unlock output
Green -500mA lock output

I had a Viper 5900 installed before this install
And I wired it viper blue to van blue and viper green to van white , door locks worked perfectly.
Thats why I initially wired the Viper 5806 ---Viper blue to van blue Viper green to van white.
Thats when I realized the door lock outputs from the new Viper 5806 work differently (reversed)
The directions to the Viper 5900 where
Blue +lock - unlock output
Green -lock + unlock output

By looking at any of this info can you
explain how I should wire the Viper 5806 door locks

To me it looks like the wiring directions are
the same for the Viper 5806 and Viper 5900
and since I had the Viper 5900 door locks
working perfectly I'm very confused that they
Worked in reverse when wiring the Viper 5806
the same way as I had the Viper 5900.

Bad news for you.  The older Viper 5900 had door lock outputs that were (+) and (-) while the newer 5806 system
only has (-) outputs.  Your 1996 Express van needs (+) door lock signals.  You will need relays or a DEI 451M module
to make the necessary polarity conversion.

Soldering is fun!

Man, you guys are awesome , I have a couple of relays laying around , I also have the diagram to wire them up so this is good news unless I find out I burnt my outputs up when I wired them wrong.
Thanks to all you guys , so much help , I would've never figured that out on my own.

Update: I built the circuit using the relays and the door locks work perfectly .
I used one of those small plastic boxes that Dewalt drill bits come in for a housing for the relays and wiring , glued the relays in there with The Amazing Goop ,
Only problem is that the box is twice the size of the Viper brain and a few xtra wires ,
I'm thinking the Dei 451m module may take up less space and be a cleaner install.
Thanks again guys
