A newbie here, I hope someone could help or enlighten me.

I'm planning on installing Avital 4113LX remote starter and PKFM as my bypass module for my 2002 mercury mountaineer v8. It has factory alarm installed with keyless entry.

I chose that model because I just want to use my factory fob for keyless entry and also use the existing factory alarm. So I got a few questions;

1. Will the Avital 4113LX work just for remote starting only? I don't want it to unlock my doors since I will be using my existing remote. If I left it not connected will it be fine (door unlock) ?

2. Will my factory alarm not go off if I remotely start the car, unlock using my remote and go inside? In this scenario I have wired the factory disarm.

3. Do I need a relay to connect to the factory disarm wire? It seems that the remote starter factory disarm signal is already "-".

If I have time this weekend I'll setup the wiring diagram and have you guys checked it out, thanks in advance..

Don't hook up unlock wire and you shouldn't have to worry about disarm either for just a remote start

Before starting this endeavor ensure the key fob works for both lock and unlock while the vehicle is running - many cars ignore the key fobs once the vehicle is running.

so I'll leave the factory alarm disarm unconnected.

good point, there are cases where the remote key doesn't work anymore when the engine is running.
