First off thank you for this site. I've used many tutorials.
So I have this dually which had a avital 3200 remote starter. Which has fried. I've replaced with a viper 3002, six channel alarm, door locks, dome light supervision and starter kill. But now want to do remote start using relays. I had a diagram using 5 relays but have misplaced. I've looked through and have only found a basic diagram using 10 relays. Which seems outdated...? I can pretty much figure stuff out....but relays I have never understood. Could someone point me in the right direction. (Draw me up a diagram)

Thank you in advance.

Forget using relays. You're right, that method is out-dated and not very safe.

There are stand alone remote starts that have an activation input that you trigger with an aux channel. The Avital 552T is one of these. I once used a 552t with a factory GM RKE system by eliminating the trunk pop, and using that as the input for the remote start.

There are now more modern versions of stand alone RS than the 552t available. I came up with Avital 4003. About $50 online. You want the inhibits, the brake switch, etc in order to be safe. And as the author states in that 10 relay RS diagram, "it takes up a lot less space too".

add a DEI 551T to your alarm. They work great on a 94 chevy gas powered trucks. 94 has no passkey crap and is one of the easiest trucks to add remote start to.
the trickiest part will be adding a relay to bypass the alarms shock sensor when remote started.
i prolly have a good used one laying around i would sell cheap.
