I have a 2004 chevy 2500hd with a 6.0 and it has no options so I bought a basic remote start, I was just wonderin if somebody could explain how to install it, the directions are not very helpful

Can you post a photo of the wiring diagram if one came with the unit.

Yes I will, it's just that it's not much of a diagram it just lists each wire color and what it's for, then the picture of the module and what each plug is for, but I will post one shortly

Lets get you started. You will need to use a Digital Multi Meter to test/verify the wires of your truck before you make your connections.

Above are three sites with free wiring guide information. Use them as guides as your vehicle could be slightly different than what it listed. Wire colors fade in color or may be different color altogether. Hence the need to test and verify the function of the wires.
Your vehicle lists Two Ignitions, One starter, and Two Accessory wires.
Heavy Gauge Harness
Wires 1 & 3 to constant 12 volts (Red+)
Wire 6 to Ignition 1 (Pink+)
Wire 2 to Ignition 2 (White+)
Wire 4 to Accessory 1 (Orange+)
Wire 5 to Starter (Yellow+)
2nd Accessory powered by a relay. Satellite Harness 4 pin, wire 2 to pin 85 of relay
Pin 86 and 87 of relay to 12 volt constant
Pin 30 of relay to Accessory 2 (Brown+)
Wire 1 from satellite harness to Bypass unit. You didn't mention if you had one or needed one. Do you need one?
H1/6 to chassis ground, H3/1 to ground, IF vehicle is AUTOMATIC Trans.
H1/6 to Horn wire, BLACK / YELLOW to BLACK (-)
H3/3 to brake wire WHITE (+) @ brake switch
H3/4 and H3/2 out to engine compartment. H3/4 for Hood Pin and H3/2 for tach. Hood pin is for safety.
Solder and tape all of your connections for best results. Stay away from t-taps, scothlocks, ect type of connectors.
Plan on a whole week end for the install if you have not done something like this before. Take your time, do one wire at a time, then move on to the next.
Do a search on this site for other info on your year, make, and model of vehicle for other helpful info.
