I recently installed a Cromestopper Coolstart RS4-G2 remote start with the Fortin INT-SL+ data module in my 2002 Chevy Trailblazer. I made all of the connections under the dash per kreg357's pictoral found
Here
Everything worked great for about a week then my range went to almost nothing. Checked all of my connections and everything was fine. In the process of checking I disconnected all power to the module. When I put it all back together, the range was great again. Figured it must have been a loose connection.
Well, fast forward 3 days and the range is back to crap again. I'm talking right in front of the vehicle, 3 feet from the antenna not working...
I'm going to try pulling the power and see if it comes back.
12V is supposed to be 12V but any more everything has some sort of computer interlaced with it. Has anyone had problems using the 2 12V constant wires under the dash? I'm wondering if I ran the 2 12V constant wires and my ground straight to the battery if it would make a difference? I could always just try it and see, but if it wouldn't make a difference I would rather not undo my awesome soldering job under the dash.
On a GM vehicle grounds are usually suspect. Especially on a vehicle that is over 10 years old. Make sure your system ground is attached to a painted (scrape the paint off and then ground) metal surface. Driver's kick panel behind the plastic panel is a good spot. Otherwise you may have a failing antenna..
