Viper 4205v will not make any output to start 2002 VW Passat. When remote button is pressed there is no response of any sort from vehicle and failed red led and beep sound from 2 way remote. The diagnostic flash code is 7 flashes. As per the supplied manual 7 flashes is (-) Neutral safety shutdown (H3/1 Black / White). I have verified the Black / White wire is properly grounded but still receive the same 7 flash fault code.
Current setup is:

What else am I missing that needs to be addressed? This is a bare bones install gone wrong. Thanks in advance!

A) Is this an automatic if so you need to program it as one, Menu , feature 1, option 2.
If manual, you need manual transmission reservation mode.
B) Some Euro versions have a thin second starter wire at the ignition switch, if so you need to power it up.

Immobiliser by-pass installed?

The kit did not come with a plug in style switch. It came with this switch that appears to go inline with the neutral safety circuit based on the color.posted_image

That switch isn't needed if your NSS wire either goes to ground, auto or parking brake switch, manual. Please refer to my previous post, you still haven't told us whether the vehicle is a manual or an auto, don't tell us, we can't tell you.

The vehicle is an automatic. In the menu I do not see anything about Automatic / Manual. posted_imageposted_image
As far as a by-pass I do have one installed but the RS will not send out any signals as verified with a DVOM. So I am not even worried about that yet.

Your quite right and I apologise.
Are you getting ignition lights?
Yes? Install by-pass.
No? Test voltage from Viper side of input fuses to your grounding points.
Try remote start and see if you're getting voltage at the violet, orange, pink at H3.
Your H3 BTW is wrong
I might be wrong here but Euro versions have either a thin red or RED / yellow or yellow/red at the ignition switch for ACC and BLACK / YELLOW is second ignition, again see if you also have a thin RED / black 2nd. starter. Failure to connect will fail the remote start.

I am getting absolutely no output from the RS module. No dash lights, no relays clicking, no parking lights.
As far as the igniton switch wiring it should be good. I am a VW master certified mechanic so I know where to check on the vehicles wiring side. I just dont know the viper products all that well To know why the rs module is not responding. I have attempted to reprogram the remote for fun and the rs module does see the remote signal.

OK, if you've verified input and output voltages and you've no output, but the unit responds, then we have to look at a faulty unit.
PS Here in the UK my colleague and myself install about 2-300 a year as mobile installers, never ever had a bad unit.

I hate condemning modules because their failure rate is so low. Will this viper brain / module click internally or light up its status light or something when it sees the signal from the remote. It does nothing when the button is pressed.

I thought you mentioned 7 clicks? That means it's getting power which is why I suggested testing everything.

Dead in the box brains....becoming more and more common place...it's pretty bad when I don't even meter anything before i swap out the module...yeah I know it sounds crazy but we order forty modules at a time and at least four will be toasted or do weird things...Directed must have changed up it's manufacturer or something cause for the last few years it's been disappointing.   So if all wires meter good and you have no action on the starter It's likely cooked...I can only assume you tried remote starting with the key in the ignition...?

Ummm...this vehicle requires a key wrap as the transponder...so I assume you are using the bypass for conveniences...silly question but it's kinda important to know...did I mention I hate doing R/S on V-Dubs!!!!

shark, are you buying directly ? I stopped using viper after the Responder LE models came out. Had nothing but problems. My buddy uses viper still and i know for a fact no units come DOA. I used compustar exclusively and have yet to have one come back

when i did install (still do some on the side) i've never had any issues with them. Small platform, fully customizable, use of idatalink blade for a much cleaner install, not to mention FULLY MODULAR! this is a plus. Those that use 1ways can always upgrade to 2way with new antenna and remotes. So far no complaints, just they are a tad pricey.

Contact robert thibert or staub. Staub has better prices if you meet the MOQ, thibert they don't care how much you order, but thibert's shipping alone will kill your profit.
