Im having issues with installing my remote start in my 2013 toyota Highlander.

Im using a Avital 4103 with a DBall...

Ive got it wired D2D.     It will remote start if i put the key in the ignition.

valet take over works also.     it will activate the remote start if i touch blue/white to ground too.

Just wont start without the Key.   Not quite sure what I'm doing wrong here.

I've tried to supply - to the key sense wire ( It dings like the key is in the ignition) but i got the same results.

I even had the Dball Reflashed at the local audio store.

no sure what to do here..... any suggestions

I also went out and bought a idatalink. modular at the local radio shop. they programed it and i am getting the same results.

The only wire i haven't hooked up is the auto headlamp shut off wires.   id rather not cut the wires if i can't get this working.

but if that is the problem then i guess ill be cutting them and hooking it up.

Do those have to be cut and hooked up for it to work?

what idatalink module are you using?

make sure you lock the unit into d2d mode

Red 4-pin port, Bitwriter/ESP2 or D2D programming
The Red 4-pin plug may be configured as a Bitwriter/ESP2 or D2D port. The factory default is Bitwriter/ESP2
mode.
To use as D2D mode follow the below steps:
1. Make sure WHITE/ Blue activation wire is grounded.
2. Power the unit up. The system LED flashes for 5 seconds to confirm D2D mode change.
3. Remove the WHITE/ Blue wire from ground.

after the change, power cycle the brain and idatalink. reprogram and you should be good to go

This has got me baffled..,..

I think the Avital 4103 is junk. not sure though.

I unplug the 4103 ( pull the main power white plug on end) i hook the white and blue activation wire to ground.

plug it back in.     the unit doesn't flash.   instead it starts to crank over the motor.

I'm using the ADS-ALCA w2w......

Not sure what I'm missing here. The ads-alca does not blink or anything when its attempting to start.

where as the Dball blinks green really fast like it wants to start but don't

I'm guessing you're missing one of the two ignition wires.
Test for a second ignition.
This should be an easy install follow the Xpresskit type 2 installation.

Correction.
I'm sorry I didn't realise that the 4103 was an old style unit.
Pink/white for second ignition
Satellite wiring harness.
Purple(violet) via relay to 2nd. starter wire
Orange via relay to 2nd. ACC.
Make sure both your 12V+ red wires are connected.

Well i took care of the issue.....

Ive done messed around with this for many nights.... putting it back together so the ol lady can go to work the next day. so today i got a transponder box.

put the valet key in the box. and it fired right up.   I'm done messing around.

I left the Dball in to control the doors and other stuff.   works perfect.

not sure why i couldn't get it to work.     maybe the guy at the local shop didn't program it right??? so i would have to pay them to do the install (yeh not happening)

Interestingly I did a Yaris last summer, I didn't bother with the DB-ALL, it was so easy to hardwire everything including key sense and a 556U.
