Subject: Viper 4706v and Dball2 Remote Start Problem
Date Posted: February 13, 2015 at 7:20 AM

I'm trying to remote start audi TT 2014

I already installed them and door lock/unlock works fine but won't remote start.
When I press remote start IGN turns on. and I see the message "SAFE" in instruments cluster.

Is this mean Immobilizer bypass is not working?

I refer to following installation manual
https://www.directechs.com/DocumentDownload.aspx?d=9514&p=461&f=11881

and take Installation Type 4 - Regular Key for TT
for Immo I used method3.

I really appreciate your help. thank you.

dball2 repeat flashing orange and red during remote start..

I'v made a ring around key cylinder and key fob with awg30 wire.
idatalink manual shows to use AWG30.
and I also tried with dball2 original wire. yellow/red and BROWN / red.

remote start is still not working.

1) Are you getting shutdown diagnostics?
2) Try it with a key in the ignition.

Where did you get Type 4?
It should be 1a or 1b.

Erratum it should be 1B
Every Audi, Seat, Skoda and Golf based VW uses it since about 06.
OP please read the DB-ALL instructions again.
Done loads, all the same it's the one application where the DB-ALL 2 is better than the competition.

Double rotations this week. Half awake posted_image

Place a key next to the key cylinder, activate your start to see if it fires up. If it does, you have to redo your keywrap.

Sorry for my late post,
thanx howie ll and ted.

I'm using viper 4706V

>1) Are you getting shutdown diagnostics?
I did shutdown diagnostics using viper control module, led lights 4 times, It seems I have Immobilizer problem.

>2) Try it with a key in the ignition.
yes I did, but car won't start.
I also tried other method of Immo bypass.

I got Installation type from Installation manual.

I couldn't find 1a or 1b.

When I remote start, DBALL2 LED will blink red and orange continuously.

Thanks

Go to Xpresskit and wire it following European section, type 1b.
Take your CAN ignition and starter wires from the orange plug, I had a similar problem in December.

Should I wire exactly same as 1B or just take Can Hi and Low from orange plug?

Use the orange plug which is a PITA to get at on right hand drive cars, use it also for ign. and start, doesn't seem to work from the steering column.

which immobilizer bypass install type did you use before?

I found what is the problem.

my problem was the wire between the key cylinder and the key.
I wrapped AWG 30 to key cylinder and key and was using awg22 cable to connect two place.

I just used AWG 30 to all wiring and shorten cable between it.

but I still have strange problem...

I could remote start twice but not three times.

When I remove blue connector from DBALL2 and reconnect it,I can remote start again. but only twice...

anybody here had same problem before?

what wires do you have coming off the blue connector?
I've only encountered a no start when there is a data collision.

If you have either push to start (PTS) or regular key but NOT the slot key please use the alternate connection types, DON'T coil wire around the antenna, use the cut method.
That's how we do all of the European cars when we do key in the box.

Hi Howie II

I did cutting method but still same as before. I only could start twice.

sometime I could start three times. but not four times.

I think I could remote start in about 1 min after plugging blue connector.

>I think I could remote start in about 1 min after plugging blue connector.
this is not true..

start once and 10min later I could start again.
but I couldn't start third time.

If I cut 12V Red: 13 from blue connector and reconnect it,
I can remote start again.

i was going to say you dont need 12v and ground on the blue connector. You can get the power from the 4pin data port.

Hi Ted

If I don't use 12v and gnd,
dball2 is powered off all the time.

Did you do it with D2D? In that case the 4 wire lead with red and white plugs, the black and red on that lead power the DB-ALL. Check it out.
It must be live if you were able to program the DB-ALL to give you the green LED on install.

Were you able to program it?
Does the green LED illuminate momentarily if you lock and unlock from the remote FOB?

the power of the d2d and blue connector are parallels. you might have burnt the outputs of your unit.

on the 4pin data port, hardwire power and ground, leave the blue and white for data comm.

Checked all wire, and found viper 4706v was not connected to 12V.
Actually It was connected. solder coat was not enough.

Now I can get 12V from D2D.

but, start twice problem still continue.

In all honesty does it matter in normal use? Out of interest relearn the tach and program your unit as "tach" not virtual tach or voltage.
BTW, don't "coat" it with solder, you must let the solder flow into the joint.

>In all honesty does it matter in normal use?
yes. only twice I can remote start.

my test cycle is following.
RS ->unlock ->start with key ->run(5min) ->stop ->get off and lock
I only could do this two cycle.

I will try to re learn tach tomorrow.
>BTW, don't "coat" it with solder, you must let the solder flow into the joint.
yes that's I should do.

Finally It works.
I connected tach wire between dball2 and viper then relearned the tach.

Thanks for your kindly support. Ted , Howie II.

Funny how products from the same company still have problems in data mode. Unfortunately, this is why I always reach for an idatalink piece first. Howie, since its the only bypass available in the UK, you have major issues with them?

btw how did the imported Fortin pieces work out for you?

Never got to see them!
Fell out with my contractee over some problem vehicles, I think I'm losing some cognitive abilities especially at my age and when it's 28f out where I'm working.
1) I think he used the Fortin on BMW''s
2) I've no problems with DB-ALL provided the software people have done their job.
VAG (VW, Audi, Porsche, Seat and Skoda) usually have no issues.
I simply hardwire, e.g. tach, hood switch parking brake when the DB-ALL doesn't deliver.
