I have a Viper 5906v. I connected a 506t and the external shock sensor with the harnesses by instructions (I followed the first option in the 506t installation manual). The shock sensor works (LED blinks) but the LED on the 506t does not. I tap on the glass with my keys but the 506t LED does not blink. My mic is up on the dash.

Did the LED flash when you first powered it up?
I'm guessing insufficient power or faulty module.

Yes it flashed when I powered it up. Do I need to wire it differently or what?

Try increasing the gain to max also try temporarily disconnecting the shock sensor.

Another thought:-
After disconnecting the shock sensor and turning up the gain, wait about 30 seconds after arming.

I tried disconnecting the shock sensor, turned up the gain and still no luck. I then noticed that the 5906v has 2 sensor connections so I tried connecting the audio sensor in one and the shock sensor in the other. The audio sensor just does the same thing either way (with shock sensor or connected by itself in either sensor connection). The LED just flashes once when applied power to it and that's it. I've even sat inside the vehicle with it armed (without shock sensor connected) and tapped on the glass, whistled, jingled my keys, etc. right near the mic and the siren or audio sensor LED shows no response.

Did all the above with the gain turned all the way up.

The audio sensor was new. That probably don't mean anything.

Probably faulty then.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. I'm going to send it back and try another one. I'll let you all know the results when I get the other one. Thanks a bunch!

Depending on the vehicle you'll get better results with a 508d dual zone proximity or field effect sensor.

Well I received my another replacement 506t. Pretty much same thing, but, it does pick up better with the gain turn on max. For the 508D I have one that is suppose to be coming tomorrow. You're right Howie II I realized that probably would be better.

Good luck, I've personally had little joy with glass break detectors.

Wire the trigger to hour hood or trunk sensor wire, grey or blue, power to red on H1 and ground to orange on H1

Howie, I wired the trigger to the alarm instant trigger, red to constant power and orange to GWA. It does almost the same thing with one exception when I arm the alarm the red light flashes everytime and then gives me a trunk open error message. I have the sensor turned up and still nothing.

Howie, everything works now but man you talk about absolutely no adjustability. If you tap on the window at all it triggers the full alarm. I have a new sensor coming on Monday that I will try. Thanks for the help.

Don't know quite what to say, may be use the trigger wire to trigger a relay to the blue on the alarm? That would increase the switching current.

Howie, It turns out my audio sensor microphone was bad. I replaced the microphone and I can adjust sensitivity now and it works everytime.

It's my fault I must have stretched the wire or pulled too hard on it installing it in the center console.

Thanks for all the help
Chris
