I have the 508d coming in today and was just wondering if the 508d could be hidden or does it need to be exposed or seen. I've been seeing posts about people installing these in the center console. I get it being installed in the center of the vehicle but don't that hide the sensor. How does the sensor detect any movement when it is mounted in the center console?

Centre console or roof (might need to extend the wiring), under panel, test, replace panel test again then 36 hours later you'll need to drop the sensitivity.
It's obviously much easier to make the first and second adjustments if it can be seen, also acts as a deterrent if visible.
More sensitivity if roof mounted (might not be a good thing).

Amateurs assume, don't test and have problems; pros test first. I am not a free install service.
Read the installation manual, do a search here or online for your vehicle wiring before posting.

I installed the 508d today and I think it is going to work out pretty good. I installed it underneath the center console. Picks up movement very well from this location. I may do some adjusting though. Thanks Howie II for all your help!
