Can some walk me through connecting a relay to my car alarm system so I can use my car horn instead of siren.

You didn't say which alarm, but if it's a DEI, most of them can be programed for "horn honk" on the siren wire. There's a 6 or 8 pin connector at the base of the steering column. Dk blue wire pin 6 (-) trigger is horn. Test, to be sure. DEI sends a (-) pulse, and the dk blu accepts it. No relay required.

I'm using a viper 5000 car alarm system. That's been installed for a while now. I know the location of the blue wire and I tested it today with a tester. So are you saying I don't need this relay?

Yes, you WILL need a relay for the 5000. It only has the brown (+) siren output. Program 3-1 to "horn honk".

wire the relay as follows:
30 = Ground
87 = Horn blue wire @ steering column.
85 = Ground
86 = Brown siren/horn honk output from 5000.

Thank you very much. I was able to wire my relay up and the car horn works perfect.
