Subject: DBALL2 compatible with Crimestopper SP502

I installed the crimestopper and wanted to use the DBALL2 as a bypass alone, but it didnt work. I had to flashed to the specific vehicle I was working on (2004 TSX), and even tried the W2W method of installation, but no luck. Im sure I have the crimestopper properly installed because it will try to attempt to start, but like any other vehicle it will only crank because the transponder hasnt been bypassed.

When I had it W2W, as I was plugging in the wires to the unit, the LED light never came on like it says it should in the manual. Im 99% sure my wiring is correct, and the only reason why Im not 100% sure is cause it was already 1 in the morning when I double checked. Im going to triple check it once theres light out, but if I do have my wiring correct, what else can it be?

Any ideas/suggestions will be greatly appreciated. TIA

Not a CrimeStopper user but it looks like you have to go W2W as the SP502 only does Fortin or iDatalink D2D.  I see no mention
of DBI D2D support in the install guide.

Do the rest of the DB-ALL2 functions work?  Locks, trunk release, status trigger inputs, etc?
If the DB-ALL2 is handling the convenience features OK but not the transponder bypass, it has power but didn't program correctly.
Double check these connections :
DB-ALL2 Red connector Pin 13 to +12V constant.
DB-ALL2 Red connector Pin 14 to chassis ground.
DB-ALL2 Red connector Pin 11 to IMMO Data ( 7-pin immobilizer connector, Pin 2 RED / Blue )
DB-ALL2 Black connector Pin 9 to SP502 thick Pink that goes to TSX Ignition ( Ignition switch 6 BLACK / YELLOW )
DB-ALL2 Black connector Pin 10 to SP502 (-) Run Blue/Black

Soldering is fun!

I just saw your reply, but I already gave the car back to the customer. I ended up not using the DBALL2, and used an old 556U or something like that, that I had laying around instead.

As for the DBALL2, I couldnt even get it to turn on. I followed the instructions about which harness to connect first but no luck.

Then I found this on Crutchfield:

"It is optimized to integrate with security and remote start systems from Viper, Python, Clifford, Avital, Autostart, Astrostart, and Automate, and features multi-bus and advanced OBD2 connectivity for SmartStart remote start system"

Since they didnt mention Crimestopper as one of the systems, I take it that they arent compatible?! Someone please correct me if Im wrong though.

in W2W mode it does not care what it is connected to. W2W or Wire to Wire means just that. you are connecting wires to one another. Basically you are having the remote start tell the integration module what to do. D2D or Data to Data uses the RS232 port (4 pin plug with usually red, black, blue and white wires). These wires are in a specific order for how the devices communicate with one another. This does not mean that they are all set the same or that they use the same pin configuration.
In the future, if you are installing a CrimeStopper remote start/ remote start alarm I would recommend either a Fortin or Idatalink integration module as both of them are full 2-Way D2D compatible.
