1996 4runner.

I installed an older prostart ct-5072 (dei) that I had kicking around over the weekend. It was older, but new in box.

The install went very smooth, but the device seems very unresponsive to the unlock button on both my remotes. Lock and Remote Start respond quickly, but I have to hold the unlock button down for 30-60 seconds to get it to trigger.

Once it triggers, lights flash and door unlocks correctly. If I hold the remote within 2" of the antennae, it usually responds within 5-10 seconds, but as soon as I hold it a foot away, response can take a very long time. Almost to the point of unusable.

I can start my truck from inside my house through the closed doors, but unlock does not do the same. I have to hold the unlock down for at least 30 seconds and I have to be standing right next to my vehicle. Often I give up.

This doesn't look like an issue with the wiring as when the device responds, the doors unlock correctly. Also the unresponsiveness happens in programming mode. When I enter programming mode, if I have to push the unlock button, I have to hold the remote right next to the antennae or hold the button down for a long period of time.

Trunk Opening also seems difficult to press during programming, but Lock and Remote Start work fine.

Any suggestions appreciated!
