I think I figured this out, but please check me:

GM 5-wire lock system. I inserted a RKE with on-board relays into the blue and black wires in the Driver's kick panel. The door switches operate correctly, but the RKE is 'Backwards'. The harness was completed on the bench and reinstalled in the car with the IP removed. To rewire the RKE is not possible. (yes I checked it on the bench. It was correct, not sure what's wrong.)The buttons' functions can not be changed in programming. For now, I turned the membrane buttons over in the housing, but now they're upside down to the logo. Not cool for the way I do things.

There are metripack connectors in both kick panels for the locks. They are readily accessible.
The driver is the output from the driver switch and input to the RKE.
The passenger connector is the output of the RKE and driver door to input of the passenger switch.
The passenger switch output goes to the lock motors.

If I reverse the blue and black wires in BOTH kick panels, this will reverse both the driver switch to align with the RKE functions, then reverse it again to align with the passenger door which is OK. Correct?

I think I'm right. Thanks for checking me.

Scratches head and wishes you'd done a diagram.

thanks, Howie.

I did a sketch while sitting on the throne yesterday morning. Took about a minute. I'll go out the truck after work this afternoon and try it. Should take about 2 minutes to re-pin the two connectors.

I'm pretty sure it will work.

As a related subject, and the basis for how I thought of this, Google "locomotive MU cable". This is the cable that connects multiple locomotives together so they can be controlled from the lead cab. In multiple unit consists, how does each locomotive know which way to go when the engineer selects "forward" or "reverse"?

Two wires in the MU connection. Forward and reverse. A receptacle on each end of each locomotive, and a jumper cable between each pair. The two wires cross in each locomotive, and cross again in each jumper. Sketch it out, and you'll figure out how it works. VERY similar to the two wires in my lock system. Lock and unlock.

Cheers

Series parallel? Funny I work things out the same way! Remember you're talking to a 69 year old who's finding his concentration and diagnostic skills slipping!
Just happy to have put a head up display in the van!
