Hey everyone --- I could use a bit of help so I do not burn up my Car Alarm/Remote start, my car, or me :)
Well, first off, I have a pristine 2002 Isuzu Rodeo LS with less than 10,000 miles on it -- and I would like to install an "EZ-Starter" Alarm System/Remote Start that I picked up a few years back that I didn't feel I had the competence to install---so it sat on a shelf for these many years.
Now, since I inherited this pristine Rodeo from my brother who recently passed away -- it did not have all the confusing extra keys with the chips in them, ect ect. --- I felt I might have a shot in doing this thing myself.
After much research, I think I have most of it figured out...except the negative trunk release output (-)....that said, I just want to say I located a complete wiring diagram for the vehicle, and I'm a bit confused. On this site, and on many others that I have researched --- it states that a relay is necessary and the output from the relay is to go to the "Trunk Release" ( light green wire(-)) @ the keyless entry module next to the glovebox.
Well, looking at the complete wiring diagram for the vehicle, it tells me this wire leads to a SWITCH which activates the courtesy lights when the door is unlatched or ajar, not an release mechanism for the hatch :
THIS, on the other hand, is the release mechanism for the hatch, describing a completely different wire at a completely different location :
Which one is the correct procedure, and if I am to connect to the second wire @ the second location, how would I do that using a relay ?
Thank you all, and I'm glad to be here !
That diagram shows a normal actuator in the rear door meaning it just locks and unlocks with the passenger 3 doors. Is this the way the car works? Does the glass open separately?
The glass is separate. There is a button to release the glass.
