Hey everybody
I have a 2001 dodge neon, I went to see what type alarm was installed because I got the car used.
There are 2 black boxes a 552t remote starter, and a 55U or something like that maybe 555U transponder.
I want to take these out or disable them so I can install a viper 2 way with LCD remote.
How would you go about this?
Any advice would be great

It depends as you need the 556u for the Transponder key unless you buy a specific bypass that works through data or no key required type. What model of alarm are you looking at. Would be best to remove and install at the same time if you want to keep the work to a minimum. As you will need to connect too the same wires for the remote start of the alarm that the remote start is hooked too now. Otherwise you could just buy a alarm only and hook the "WHITE/ blue remote start activation input" of the currently installed starter to the alarm and not uninstall the remote start. which will allow you to use the new alarm to control the installed starter. Which will be less work. Otherwise it will be starting from scratch.

The alarm I like to install is Viper 3305V,. the wire harness is the same as the 552t remote start. But there are more wires connected to the remote start, and on the 3305v there not that many ports..

If it make it easy I would leave the remote start.. Thanks

3305v(Viper Responder 350) is a alarm only but you would be able to plug the led to use the existing if it is already mounted in plain sight, other wise plug the new led connector into the alarm and place as desired, and door locks, from the remote start into it without rewiring them. Connect the WHITE/ blue from the remote start to the WHITE/ blue of the channel 3 of alarm to operate remote start from alarm remote. That leaves Alarm power(best to run to battery post for alarm), ground, ignition, Starter kill (if they hooked up the anti-grind for the remote start you would need to hook it up to the vehicle side of the starter circuit[depending on whether you want to have it], parking lights, door(s) trigger and "trunk pop that need to be hooked to alarm. If remote start has a shutdown hood pin "which it should" it can Also be connected to the instant trigger of the alarm(leave it connected to remote start). Any other options you would like to have and any add on modules like power windows control. Then run antenna in place of the existing. That should cover most of the alarm install. Any questions ask!
