I have been installing 12 volt product for 15 years (8 years professionally between 2 retailers), but now I only do a couple per year for friends and family, so I'm a bit out of the game.

Anyways, I installed an Autostart AS-2386 with an ADS-AL-CA in a 2011 Toyota Tacoma. The owner has contacted me and says that every couple days when she puts the truck into drive it takes about 3 seconds to engage and then triggers a check engine light (with a transmission code). It had never done this before the remote starter was installed, and the owner is concerned it is something caused by the remote starter install.

Has anyone ever heard of anything like this? Am I missing something that may not have been listed in the idatalink instructions? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

How did you wire up the second starter wire? Relay? If yes, let us know where pins 85 and 86 are going to on the relay. Also, if you can read the code it would be helpful. I'll bet it's for a park neutral safety fault.

I used a relay and hooked the wires up as follows:
85 - accessory wire from remote starter harness (not hooked up to vehicle)
86 - starter wire from remote starter harness
87 - starter wire from remote starter harness
30 - 2nd starter wire in ignition harness

Now that I think more about this I should've hooked 85 to the ground when running wire from the remote starter. Would this cause a fault to the park neutral safety switch?

I will be getting the vehicle back soon but I don't remember what the code was exactly.

Thanks

How is the truck wired up ?   I always power everything just like the key Would (ING as ING , ACC as ACC) And I power up all circuits.

IGNITION 1 BLACK/ RED (+) @ IGNITION SWITCH, (WHITE, 8-Pin Plug) Pin 6

IGNITION 2 BLUE / YELLOW (+) @ IGNITION SWITCH, (WHITE, 8-Pin Plug) Pin 1

ACCESSORY /HEATER BLOWER 1 WHITE/ GREEN (+) @ IGNITION SWITCH, (WHITE, 8-Pin Plug) Pin 2

I know on some of the older chevys it would screw the trans up if 1 of the ING wires wasn't powered correctly.

On most Toyota's I normally don't hookup the Accessory circuit as it normally only powers the radio. The heater fans and heated seats run on the 2nd ignition circuit.

Your relay as described will cut out during crank. You used the accessory on pin 85 and it drops during crank. Try the gwr and report back.
