Subject: Avital 4105 / dball2 install will not start

I just installed a Avital 4105 and Dball2 in a 2011 Toyota Sienna (G-Key). I have the door locks working, but no the the remote start. When I press the button for remote start the lights on the remote blink, but neither the Avital or Dball2 have any lights on them and nothing appears to change in the car. Once I lock the car the Avital has the red LED slow blinking which I think is normal. I have flashed the Dball2 with the Sienna firmware and am using D2D mode. I have it in D2D mode for tach. I think I am missing a safety or bypass.   Here is what I have:

AVITAL CONNECTIONS:
Heavy Gauge relay, white 6-pin connector;
1 - Red connected to constant 12V
2 - pink/white connected to yellow second ignition
3 - red connected to another constant 12V
4 - orange - not connected
5 - Purple - Connected to Red(stater1)
6 - Pink - Connected to Black ignition 1

Primary Harness, white 9 pin;
1 - light GREEN/ black (-) 200ma Factory alarm disarm output - not connected.
2 - GREEN / WHITE (-) 200ma Factory alarm rearm output - not connected.
3 - Yellow (+) ignition out (to alarm) - Not connected
4 - WHITE/ blue (-) activation input - not connected
5 - orange (-) 500mA GWL. antigrind - not connected
6 - Brown (-) 200mA horn output - not Connected
7 - RED / white (-) 200mA Trunk release output - not connected
8 - Black Chasis ground - Connected to Ground
9 - White (+/-) light flash output - not connected

Remote start harness, white 5 pin connector
1 - BLACK/ white (-) Parking brake input - not connected
2- Violet/white Tach input - not connected.
3 - Brown (+) brake shutdown input - not connected
4 - Gray (-) hood pin input - Connected to supplied hood pin.
5 - Blue/White (-) 200mA rear defogger - not connected

Satellite Harness - Not connected

Door Lock harness - Not connected

D2D Harness - connected to Dball2

DBALL2 CONNECTIONS
Blue harness
tan/black - connected to HS Can high
Tan - Connected to HS Can Low
Yellow - Connected to SIL interr connector side
Orange / YELLOW - connected to SIL interr vehicle side

Red Connector
Yellow/Black connected to SIL
ORANGE / black connected to RDA

black harness
Pink connected to Ignition 1 input

D2D connector - connected to Avital D2D port

Any advice on what to try next. I have reflashed and double checked all wiring, was not sure if something that is not connected needed to be connected.

Thanks

Just went out and tested more, and I think you are right. I actually had the BLACK/ white connected through the on/off switch then to the Dball2 BLACK/ white wire. I stripped both sides of the switch and could not get continuity with switch on or off. Come to find out the factory solder was bad and the wire was just held to the switch with heat shrink. I brief touch BLACK/ white from Avital to ground and was able to get it to start. I will have to do more testing tomorrow, but hopefully all will be good.   Thanks for the quick reply Smokeman1.

I have this same setup (Avital 4105, DBALL2, Toyota Matrix) that I'm just now planning the install.

I have decades of car wiring experience, and have done the older lots-of-wires remote start installs (so much fun!).

I thought with the DBALL/CANBUS Interface Module all we'd need is power and ground for both devices, and the CANBUS connection for the DBALL?

Are the connections to ignition and starter really required for the Avital? I assumed the analog connections (which those are) would be disabled when a D2D device (the DBALL) communicated via the D2D interface, and the Avital would merely communicate through the DBALL to the CANBUS for those?

Or does CANBUS not actually control the starter relay on this vehicle? (I'm fairly new to CANBUS).

BTW - thanks in advance guys - this was a VERY insightful post already - both your detailed problem description, Nostical, and your quick t-shooting smokeman.

PS - Nostical, you're reply talks about a switch - are you referring to the Shutoff switch?

Followup:
Nostical, my DBALL diagram doesn't have (on the red connector):

Yellow/Black connected to SIL
ORANGE / black connected to RDA

It also doesn't reference SIL or RDA anywhere.

Do you have a diagram that does? (my diagram is dated 2016-02-12)

Yet another interesting detail - my diagram indicates the ONLY wiring needed on the DBALL when using D2D are the two CANBUS connections - you don't even need 12v on the DBALL (looks like it gets 12v on the D2D connector from the Avital)

On closer reading (mind I've been studying all the docs for a couple days now), I see there are only 6 connections required w/an Avital & DBALL combo.

See here: https://imgur.com/a/o1vFi
(this diagram is vehicle specific to a Mitsubishi, but since it's a dball/canbus car I figure only the vehicle-specific stuff is different).

required are hooked up But Ignition clicks on
then quicky off. I put imobilzer in, programmed it
from computer from website flash but I cannot
for the life of me get it to remote start :/ heh
