I've recently installed a viper 4706v/dball2 remote start system in my 2005 GMC Yukon. The OBD2 port is also being used to report driving information through a drivewise recording/reporting device. This device stopped working after the install and I've noticed when I plug in my cheap scanner that I get what I think is a vague pending DTC reading (yellow exclamation point). Does anyone know if the fact that I'm tapping into the #2 ODB2 port wire causes a problem with these things?

Maybe try a different scanner. I haven't used every scanner available but I've never seen one that shows an exclamation mark instead of a code. Service manual shows the OBD port shares a fuse with the cigarette lighter. Maybe see if your lighter has power and/or check all fuses.

Thanks I will plan to use some different scanners to try and get better diagnostic info. I guess I'm mostly concerned about whether these remote start systems cause interference with the OBD2 ports since the drivewise device doesn't report trip data anymore. I certainly don't want to fail any emissions testing over this down the road.
