Good morning folks, i would like to remove the viper alarm system from my truck. Im not a big fan of aftermarket alarm systems and i want to remove this because im having random issues starting the truck. Is there anything particular to this model that would prevent me from restarting my vehicle if i simply unplugged all harnesses to the module? I do not have any experience with alarm systems.
I know this isnt a car repair forum but basically when i go to crank the car it kills power to the radio and doesnt start. Yesterday it also know turns on off the brake light when i turn key to start but it never cranks. Just putting this here if it sounds familiar to anyone.
Because a 350 does not have Remote Start, there aren't any wiring interfaces that would be likely to be causing your no-start. However there MAY be a starter interrupt relay. But even this wouldn't cause power interruptions to the radio. The 350 is pretty basic, and its installation doesn't really molest much wiring. You probably have other issues like battery connections, etc.
I was working on a Corolla recently that had a similar issue. When turned to start the radio would go off but the engine wouldn't crank. The vehicle had mouse damage and a mouse had chewed/shorted a wire and blew a fuse. I repaired the wire and replaced the fuse. It was fine after that but the radio still wasn't powered while cranking. And that is actually normal for a lot if not most cars, you just don't notice it because the starter is normally cranking in the start position. I would start by checking your under hood and under dash fuses. Hope this helps.
